ABDOMINALS: Also known as the torso (abs). To work your abdominals do floor crunches, twist crunches, decline sit-ups, or bent-knee leg raises.

AEROBICS: Means requires oxygen. To lose weight you need to do at least 20 to 30 minutes of aerobics 3 times a week like jogging.

AMINO ACIDS: A group of compounds that serve as building blocks from where protein and muscle are made.

ANAEROBIC: This means without oxygen. This occurs during intense physical activities.

ANTIOXIDANTS: Means small compounds that minimize tissue oxidation. They also control free radicals and their negative effects.

ATROPHY: Means decreasing in muscle tissue. To prevent this its recommended to lift weights at least 3 times a week.

BACK: Also known as the Latissimus Dorsi (lats). To work the back do wide-grip pulldowns, one-arm dumbbell rows, reverse-grip pulldowns, or dumbbell pullovers.

BARBELL: A free weight that has a long bar where weight plates are placed. Doing 3 sets of 12 repetitions will help build muscle.

BICEPS: Also known as the front of the arm or (bis). To work the biceps do incline dumbbell curls, seated dumbbell curls, standing barbell curls, or hammer curls.

CALORIES: Means measuring the energy value of foods. To lose weight eliminate unnessary calories.

CALVES: The back of your legs. To work your calves do seated calf raises, standing calf raises, one-leg calf raises, or angled calf raises.

CARBOHYDRATES: Means Organic compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. This is a great source of fuel for the body.

CHEST: Also known as Pectorals (Pecs). To work the chest do dumbbell bench presses, incline dumbbell press, dumbbell flyes, or barbell bench presses.

CHOLESTEROL: Is a type of fat known as the "bad fat". Exercising will help in eliminating the bad fat.

DUMBBELL: A free weight that has a short bar where weight plates are placed. Doing 3 sets of 12 repetitions on each arm will help build muscle.

ENERGY: Means the capacity to do work. A good healthy meal will give the body the energy to function.
