| Stirling: William Wallace monument. Sadly down below in the carpark is a big limestone statue of Mel Gibson as William Wallace. Although in fairness I guess I had only heard of him because of the movie Braveheart. This sword is meant to be the real William Wallace sword. Its huge as you can see. I'm 5'8" and although the display cabinet meant the sword started at about my knees. you can see how big it is. Experts have estimated William Wallace would have had to have been at least 6' 6" to have wielded it. The actual tower itself is quite ornate externally. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| On a small "z" road on the way to Plockton.Well it seemed like a "z" road. It was certainly narrow. If you venture into the highlands of Scotland you'll see these magnificent highland cows/bulls. Hopefully some have survived the foot and mouth outbreak. We stopped the car. I wound down the window. Almost tempted to reach out and touch him.. but instead... wow such hairy beasties :) |
