| At the end of the Cardassian Occupation Deep Space Nine fell into the possession of Bajoran hands. With them having no one with sufficient knowledge to run it they asked the Federation to take control. |
| In the begining the station hardly saw any action and was regarded as a low priority. That changed however when a wormhole was discovered that lead to the Gamma Quadrant. |
