Duke of Edinburgh Dogsledding Trip Information
Route
Western Reaches of Algonquin Park and trails towards South River
Trails
- Most are dedicated dog sled trails
- Occasionally cross roads and snowmobile trails where there is no other choice

Travel Consideration

- Safety of Lakes and lake crossings will be assessed at the time of the trip. Lake crossings may not be an option depending on the condition of the ice.
- Difficulty, rate of travel and final route will be decided by guides who will assess the group's ability before we travel each day. 
- Snow conditions are fairly good in most areas

Emegency Planning

- phones at Chocpaw Expeditions are monitored 24hrs a day when trips are out
- If you get a message, they are on the phone and will reply immediately
- Topographic info has been transmitted to local rescue units
- all guides are qualified

Additional Notes

- you must tell the trip coordinators if you feel too warm or too cold during  the trip.  Do not be shy.
- Example of chores include: cutting wood, cooking, tying dogs and feeding the dogs. 
- bring a maximum of 2 full sets of clothes; do not wear jeans and do not care about the way you look. 

Additional Notes about what to bring:

- shorts and t-shirt inside are acceptable 
- Running shoes inside tent
- NO COTTON!
