On Sunday November 2, 2003, we have won our 3rd continues game against Metrostars.  Metrostars decided to bat first and scored 191, all outs and We(Cavaliers Blue) scored 192 with 2 wickets in hand. MVP of the game was Santosh with excellent batting (108 notout) and great bowling (3 wickets), also good performance by Atul with 3 wickets and 25+ runs, Ketan with 4 wickets, Himanshu, Prakash Patel and Dixen with outstanding fielding and catches.

Details:

For Metrostars the writing was there on the wall when first ball they bowled crashed into extra cover boundary.  We had our best opening partnership of 18 runs in 15 balls.  Then Pavel was adjudged LBW on a ball which seem to go down the leg but swung back sharply.  Pavel also did not help his case by not offering a shot.  His departure paved the way for Santosh.  He  and myself started to build up the innings and after 2 failures I was finding myself applying better.  But a wrong call got me runout at 14 and the score was 37.  After that Dixen, Ketan and Ilesh got out cheaply leaving the score at 64 for 5 in 21 overs.  At drinks, Metrostars must have thought themselves to be well on course for their third win.  This is where Atul Shah came in to leave that thought as a thought only.  He and Santosh played some very fine cricket by taking quick singles (I was running for Atul) and they added 66 runs in 11 overs.  NOw 60 were required from 8 overs.  Santosh completed a fine 50 meanwhile.  But Atul fell trying to force the pace.  Prakash fell without scoring.  In came 'Bevan' of Cavaliers Blues-Taral.  It seems he has made a habit of just staying there till the team wins.  He and Santosh coasted to the target against an attack that was now getting frustrated by their running (after Atul's fall I was running for Santosh).  Santosh hit sandeep for consecutive two 4's and a six.  Taral unfortunately fell when 3 runs were required from 3 balls.  Taral and Santosh realised 57 runs and Santosh completed the first century for Cavaliers Blues.  Then Santosh hit the penultimate ball towards fine leg and Prakash P and myself ran the 3 runs and we won by 2 wickets with just 1 ball to spare.

Earlier Metrostars won the toss and elected to bat in overcast and damp conditions.  They got of to a rollicking start.  Their score board read like this- (over/runs/wicket)- (1/25/0), (2/35/0), (3/50/0), (4/55/0), (5/67/0).  They had scored 311 in their previous game and were well on course for 350+.  Then Atul provided the first breakthrough in 6th over.  Ketan as always rattled the wood twice in his first over - 8/75/3.  The next partnership realised 73 runs in 11 overs.  Then I took a catch on deep midwicket boundary which changed the game.  From 19/148/3 they got bundled out due to some excellent fielding by Prakash P.(2 catches), Dixen (1 catch) and Anil (1 catch).  Ketan again took 2 wickets in the last over.  Santosh and Atul took 3 wickets each in their spell. Their final score read 27/189/all out.

With this victory we have 44 points from 3 games (14.67 per game).  We are Number 1 in our division and overall 2nd in the whole league behind Phantoms.  Let's keep this flow of wins going..........

Our Next Match is against Phoenix Cricket Club(PCC) on Sunday November 9th.....
