CANDY'S STORY
A wonderful woman named Pam who volunteers her time to helping animals in need got a call one day from The Hardin County Dog pound in Kenton, Ohio. They had picked up a lab mix with a severely injured rear leg. She had a large  deep gash and the bone was protruding out yet she was so sweet! Apparently this beautiful gal had been hanging around a farmhouse for a few weeks but no one was able to catch her! The vet determined that she would need to have the leg amputated. This small shelter agreed to cover her expenses for surgery.  Pam then put out a plea to rescues for someone to take her in . My family and I decided we would take her in and foster her until she is well enough for adoption.  We will be meeting Pam this weekend to pick up Candy and bring her home with us! Please  keep checking back as I plan to post updates of this incredible dog her on her journey to recovery!
12.8.07 Homecoming!
My family and I left our house at 8am for the nearly 3 hr ride to Columbus to pick up Candy! It was a long and tiring day for all of us but I am happy to report that Candy is doing well! She is such a happy gal! She has been so accepting to family and friends who have come over to see her. She takes her pills like a good girl! She appears to have been housebroken and is doing very well at going potty outside even on only 3 legs! She has a great appetite and loves treats! She pretty much slept the est of the day once we got home !
12.9.07 Candy's FIRST night here!
I am happy to report that  all went well! The worst part so far seems to be the leakage from the tube at the site of the amputation. We are constantly walking behind her with a mop wiping up the blood that drips!  She seemed to rest very comfortable and does not appear to be in any pain. She is currently on a painkiller and antibiotic.
