Candy went to Big Creek Animal Hospital this moning (12.12.07). She seemed to be dripping a little more blood than usual from her tube. Probably from all the moving around and the car ride! The vet said all looks good and she is coming along just fine! He saw no infection! She does seem to have quite a bit of fluid build up in the stump and we will begin using warm compresses in that area this evening! The staples & the drain will be removed next Tuesday moning! She did however test positive for whip worms and I am now treating her with Panacur . Candy was a real trooper. She tried so hard to go up and down the steps at the vet's office but I ended up carrying her! She charmed everyone there from the staff to the other animals!
Vet assures me all is well and healing as planned. Staples will remain in until next Tuesday!
What a day! We arrived at the vet's at 9:30 a.m. Candy was such a good girl! I could tell she was a little uncomfortable as they pulled out the staples! She has some bruising at the site. She was home resting peacefully... and then... I noticed all the blood...I panicked and called the vet . We took her back up there! Apparently when the staples came out the site of the drain reopened and is once again oozing! They want to keep it open to make sure there is no fluid build up and so we are back to mopping the floors!!! She came back home again and just had her first warm bath! She just loved it! She is now resting on a warm blanket in front of the Christmas tree with Bud nearby!
