It's the RIGHT thing to do!
We are just a family who takes in homeless animals.
We foster and care for them in our own home until we can find them homes of their own! We do not have a shelter nor are we a non-profit organization. All funding comes from our own pockets and the adoption fees we require at the time of an adoption. We Do not make a penny! In fact we usually end up broke! We do this simply because IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!
City limits & ordinances as well as space & funding limit what we can do.
I have spent several years working in animal shelters and have a wide array of animal experience and skills. I have ran the front offices, handling the adoptions & surrenders of many many animals. I have heard ALL the reasons and excuses for giving up an animal! I have driven an on-call emergency vehicle and have responded to several animal related emergencies. I have held many sick & dying animals in my arms. I have witnessed first-hand the abuse and neglect of our society. I have always been witness to the unconditional love and trust of these poor animals. I have administered vaccines and assisted in the euthanasia process.I have handled many vicious animals, seen the weak, the emaciated, the ill, the pregnant, the unwanted and the abandoned. I have fostered EVERYTHING from sugar gliders, chinchillas and iguanas to bunnies, kitties and orphaned puppies who needed to be bottle-fed every 2 hours!!!
People were ALWAYS calling my family begging us to take in some unwanted critter and, little by little , through word-of-mouth of our rescue was formed.
We call our rescue "SECOND-HAND PETS"
We do not quarantee age, breed, temperment, size, health etc... All animals may have been exposed to a variety of diseases and/or parasites before coming to us. While we do all we can,we can not promise ANYTHING. THESE critters COME AS IS! We can not be held responsible for ANYTHING now or if the future in regards to any of these animals! No animal is perfect. Adoption is for LIFE! It is loving these animals unconditionally as they are and giving them a better life! Do not GIVE UP on them...WORK with them to overcome their issues!
There have been a few times when an animal has fallen ill and either past away or required further medical treatment after their adoption, these are the things we can not predict, these things do happen. Yet, there are those people who choose to blame us . There are also shelters who would rather the dog be put down than release it to an individual who does not have a non profit status! It can cost over $1000 to obtain that title and with being such a small rescue I would rather spend my money on an animal in need! I do ask for a reasonable adoption fee to help with my incurred expenses! As with anything you try to do in life, there will be those that are with you and those that are against you and in rescue we have met them all! I truely believe that there is no right or wrong way to rescue or save a life and we all need to just work together for the sake of the animals!
It is the animals and the nice folks who choose to share their lives and homes with these little ones, imperfections and all that keep us going and will continue to keep us going until no animal dies needlessly behind bars!
