Guidelines
of Kailiauk

View Towards the Thentis Mountains

Please
read the following guidelines. Your cooperation in abiding by them is
greatly appreciated by the muns of the citizens of Kailiauk, an AOL Role
Playing Group on AOLGor.
You must be at least 18 years of age to play in the city of Kailiauk. AOL
Gor is an adult role playing forum, and contains adult content. If you are
discovered to have lied about your age, you will be ejected from the city.
OOC = Out of Character. IC = In Character. Character = The persona
you adopt to play on Gor, your character, a fake person you pretend to be.
Mun = Mundane of..., in other words, YOU as opposed to your character. Do
not confuse the two, as so many do. You may be playing a character, but
you are Bob or Judy or what have you. You are not Grunt the Magnificent,
so don't act like it. If you write an OOC email, sign it as "Mun
of..." not as Grunt. It gets confusing where you're coming from
otherwise and it doesn't impress anybody.
Keep OOC in the rooms to a minimum. The place for OOC is in IMs. Try to
limit yourself to BRB (be right back) and AFK (away from keyboard). We
don't need long descriptions of your activities while gone.
Be mindful of AOL TOS rules while role playing. Keep graphic comments and
descriptions to private rooms. Use them in public rooms at your own risk.
Please, while playing in Kailiauk rooms, try to devote your attention to
the room and not IMs. If the IMs are more important to you than the
activities in the room, please respect your fellow role players and go
"AFK" or leave the room until your IM situation is under
control.
No attacking or collaring of characters whose muns are AFK.
Role play realistically. Role play is give and take...it means taking
turns. If you take an action, give the other people a chance to respond
before you do anything else. And please, no multiple actions in your
descriptions, for example: "Pushes past her guards and grabs the free
woman around the throat, holding an axe under her chain as he growls in
her ear..." Also, if it is obvious that the person you are attacking
or fighting with did not see your post, do not play as if they did
nothing...remind them that it was their turn. Rooms get busy and with a
lot of scrolling, it is not always easy to keep up.
Though Kailaiuk is based on the city and culture described in the novels
of John Norman, remember that not every aspect of Gor is described, and
some discrepancies and contradictions exist. Where the books fall short,
common sense must rule. These guidelines, and the city laws are considered
to be the final word in so far as they apply. Any further issues that
arise will be dealt with by the Council of High Castes of Kailiauk.
No flame mail. You will be warned once. Repeated use of the
official city mail string to send insulting or hurtful emails will lead to
expulsion from the city. Keep disagreements private and among those who
are in the "need to know."
The Council of High Castes will mediate disagreements both IC and OOC for
the city and its citizens. All citizens and their muns are expected to
abide by the final decision of the CHC.
Certain individuals and groups are not welcome in Kailiauk due to either
the nature of their RP or their...how shall we put it?...life status. The
PPBC (Predator's Pride Black Caste) is not welcome in the city. There is
only one Black Caste on Gor, and this one ain't it, folks. Neither are
dead characters who just refuse to stay dead. Any character claiming
immunity to death is banned from Kailiauk. People, if you can't die, you
can't kill. It's that simple. KurjanP is banned due to his lack of
willingness to suffer injury while delighting in inflicting it.
Child characters without parents, in other words, orphans or wandering
children, are banned from Kailiauk.
There will be no Panther Girls in Kailiauk unless they role play somehow
arriving in the city, from the Northern Forest through the Thentis
mountains, either over them or via Boswell Pass.
Though the City of Kailiauk has no affiliation with the old GHC
(Gorean High Council) of AOL Gor, we do abide by the dice rules originated
by that body, in other words, the "2d20" system as opposed to
the ANGor "percentile" system. There is no requirement that a
character be registered with his/her caste, but neither is that forbidden.
The dice recognized are:
| Warriors* |
2d23-2d24 |
| Other Males of non-Warrior castes |
2d22 |
| Pit Slaves, male or female |
2d21 |
| Panther Girls |
2d21 |
| Free women |
2d20 |
| Other slaves |
2d20 |
*
Includes Wagon Peoples, Red Savages, Alars and Torvaldslanders, pirates,
any who might be said to make their living by the sword.
NPC Bashers: For your information and enlightenment,NPCs (Non-Player
Characters) are a time-honored tradition in role playing. The City of
Kailiauk recognizes their existence, as do its muns. If you don't like
NPCs and refuse to acknowledge them, there are many other places you can
role play. Do not expect to come into OUR city and force us to play by
YOUR rules. Bottom line: You come here, you play by our rules.
A final note for visitors/intruders: Please role play your character's
arrival in the city. Don't just pop in from the Tahari in the blink of an
eye and then back again. We won't take you seriously here if you do. And
if you intend to make trouble, remember, this is a living, breathing city.
There are NPCs here covering merchants, traders, travelers, soldiers, etc.
The streets are not empty just because only one mun might be on playing
his character. If you intend to attack, expect to be required to role play
your attack, and to justify your actions.
