Caution notes
This site provides unlicensed fan
subs for Japanese shows/musicals. None of the fansubs here
have an official English language translation.
I don't translate names, common
words like "yes", etc. In all my years of translating, I've only
received 2 complaints about this. However, if you think that this
will bother you, then maybe you should reconsider whether you want my fansubs
or not. My work is certainly not to the level of quality that some
of the digital fansubbers are capable of (but hey, I'm only one guy ;0)
Anyway, I think most people understand my reasoning that it's a waste to
redundantly subtitle things that people know already. All it does
is cover up the video.
Now that I have DVD fansubs available,
since the quality is so high, it's more important than ever that people
continue buying the original goods to support the musical (unlike a tv
show, they don't get paid by commercials, so merchandising is really important
to them). If not the video, then at least buy the CDs, program books,
or other merchandise. Remember that watching a musical without subtitles
is a rewarding experience in itself ;-)
If getting a DVD-R, please read
the DVD-R notes below
(Note, I don't have any distributors
for my fansub, if you paid more for a copy of my fansub, then you were
ripped off.) Of course this means that any redistribution of my subs
will only be done so by the fansubbing ethic (no auctioning, sale, or rent.
All costs should only cover the media/shipping only) If someone is
bootlegging my fansubs for a profit, please let people know via the mailing
list or something, so that others aren't swindled
My policy is to not sub stuff unless
it is at least 1.5 years or older (don't want to hurt Bandai sales).
Remember that this is supposed to be a Japanese impaired crutch, not a
replacement.
While I'm at it, thanks goes out
to all the members of the Seramyu mailing list and all the fans that have
supported my fansub project. Special thanks goes to the donator's
whose generosity has provided all of you with DVD fansubs, I wouldn't have
a DVD burner without their help. I can honestly say that being a
part of this project has been one of the most satisfying aspects of my
life.
Sera Myu is owned by Bandai, Takeuchi
Naoko, and respective companies. Otasuke girl by Tsuburya pro.
Kamen Rider Agito by Toei. Vanny Knights by some Japanese company.
DVD Fansub Notes
-Not all DVDs will work on all DVD players,
check dvdrhelp.com to see if your DVD player can play DVD-R/DVD+R.
Some also play DVD+R but not DVD-R and vice a versa, these will be -R by
default, so let me know if you know your player only does +R.
-DVDs are region free, NTSC format
-DVDs will include labels. The default
casing will be paper sleeves. If you want something more sturdy,
I also have slim black case and dvd cases available. Note:
Someone said dvds with labels didn't play well on his dvd player, so if
you DON'T want labels, you'll have to let me know
-DVDs will have menus. (this is because DVDs
without menus are less compatible, I did most of the new stuff on DVD before
finding this out, doh!)
-Subtitles are NOT removable. They are
hard encoded on the video, my software doesn't have the option for optinal
subtitles anyway,
-DVDs are high quality, but they're not meant
to replace the originals. Since it has to go through an encoding
process, nothing can beat the quality of an original tape (although the
quality of these DVD fansubs are quite nice). Although if you do
have the originals, consider my fansubs to be a very nice backup
-For the first time, it's a good idea to just
get 1 DVD to test for compatibility. Sometimes people go out
and buy new dvd players just because my dvd-rs don't work on their current
ones ^_^;;
-Return policy for now is to simply replace
incompatible DVDs with tapes.
-People who are upgrading from VHS/VCD/SVCD (meaning
they bought the same fansub before) only have to pay $1 for the dvd version.
Call it a thanks for continually supporting this project
-People in Europe will need a DVD player capable
of playing NTSC DVDs and it'll probably need to convert the NTSC to
PAL. I have a DVD player that plays PAL, but it outputs PAL, so it's
incompatible with my tv. Ssomething to be cautious about <shrug>
