Potter's Dinner Party

Background History
The idea of forming a statewide network of clay people was initiated by Cumberland Falls State Park in Corbin, Kentucky, as a way to organize and begin a clay event at their park. An initial survey was designed and sent out to 140 people with 85 surveys returned and compiled. The mission goals were taken directly from this survey. After one meeting in September of 2000, the organization went on hold until the fall of 2002 when another meeting was held at Cumberland Falls State Park to begin organization.
The group at this September meeting committed to forming a 501-C3, applying for a Kentucky Arts Council Community Development Grant, and production of a clay weekend on September 13-14, 2003. This clay weekend will include a guest workshop presenter on Saturday the 13th, and a sales event to
the public on Sunday the 14th at Cumberland Falls State Park.
A committee for the 501-C3 process was formed with Kathleen
Patil (606/862-6733) of London as chair and including Judy Sizemore (KAC Circuit Rider), Lawyer Larry Conley of Corbin,
and Tom Herndon.

The Ky Arts Council Community Development Grant committee is Gwen Heffner, chair, (W-859/986-1096 H-606/723-7604), Bill Whitt, Judy Sizemore and Joe Scopa. Additional committees will be for the Workshop presenter and the sales event activities. Anyone can join these committees by calling the respective chairperson.

Membership

A yearly membership fee of $25.00 gains participation in all KCN events and reduced rates in some instances. Membership also gains participation in a membership on-line directory with PHOTOS of member's work, contact information about each member, a brief paragraph about the person and work, and links to member home sites or web pages.

Membership is open to anyone interested in clay and all its many variations, whether as a maker, admirer, collector or student. We welcome any and all!
