Well, my Dad used to rebuild wrecked cars, so I always had a choice selection of vehicles to drive. Here are a few honorable mentions. '83 Porsche 944 - This one didn't have the turbo, but it still would out-run almost anything in the Valley. All black w/ dark tinted windows; it looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. We had problems w/ the ignition switch, so we put a starter button under the dash. It was a great anti-theft device.
'87 Chrysler Conquest - We had no idea what this car was when we bought it, because the front end was gone. My Mom liked the color: Mexican Red. (That's really what it was called!) It took us over 4 months to rebuild it, because there aren't a lot of these things around. Chrysler never advertised these things either. Oh, but what a ride! 186 bhp from a 4 cyl. turbo. When you hit the gas, you hit the back of the seat! This car still had power on tap at 138 mph. (Mom, Dad; don't ask how I know this....) Everybody in town wanted this car, but no one could afford the insurance. It's insurance rating (according to State Farm) was one step below the Corvette ZR-1. It's no wonder I wasn't allowed to drive this one very much.
'91 Pontiac Sunbird - This was my beater when I moved to San Antonio. We bought it after some girl decided to go for a drive on her 21st birthday (drunk) and slammed it into a telephone pole on the front end. For as cheap as these cars are, I never had any major problems other than the occasional body damages inflicted by your's truly.

My current mode of four wheeled travel is a '94 Ford Explorer. This is the second Explorer my wife and I have owned. It has a little over 135k miles on it and still pulls hard. It is a standard so I have little to worry about transmission-wise. It doesn't burn any oil either. I'll probably keep this for quite awhile. My wife's '95 Tahoe is in the background. We traded her Explorer in for this. She was afraid of driving something this big. Now I don't think she'd drive anything less.
