Maine: Dealer Related Plates
Maine 1968 New Car Dealer issue. If you've looked at the '68 passenger series you'll see that the passenger plates are yellow. These plates are white. Dealer plates are hard to find in good condition because of the number of uses they tend to get. This one been around the block a couple times by the looks of it.
Maine 1987 Used Car Dealer issue. This color dealer plate is almost the same as the '56 passenger plate color. The stacked "UC" prefix represents "Used Car". This is another one of those plates been around the block a few times and then some.
Maine 1988 Used Car Dealer issue. Although this plate has a few stickers on it, These were first issued in 1988. Pretty much the same format as the plate above except a different color. These color plates would be replaced in 2000. Thanks to Mark for getting me this one.
Maine 2002 Used Car Delaer issue. Starting in 2000 Maine replaced all the red dealer plates with these pretty purple/magenta colored plate. This color did not scan very well. These plates are now the current dealer plates for both new and used car dealers.
Maine 1981 Loaner issue. No, These plates are not loaned to people. These are put on vehicles that are loaned from dealerships that repair vehicles or whatever.. Example: You car is being repaired for 3 days, you need a car to get back and forth. The dealership "Loans" you a vehicle while you'rs is being fixed. They give you one of these "Loaner" plates for your loaned car. This plate appears to have been "Loaned" a few times.
