Maine 1968/73 Trailer issue. Starting in 1968 these yellow and black trailer plates were issued to replace the 62 base (same as passenger series). These also have the slots for the date tabs which were discontinued after 1967.
Maine 1974 Trailer issue. If you're familiar with Maine you'll notice that these "ain't" Maine dies. These plates were produced by the "Polyvend" company of Arkansas. This is a rough example of this series. I'm unsure of the purpose why they were produced out of state. As to my knowledge, this is the first plate to use dies other than the standard Maine die sets used.

Maine undated Trailer issue. After a few hundred of the polyvend plates were made, the state was back to producing plates back home atThomaston plate shop (now Warren, ME) These have the more common Maine dies. The "74" was also dropped after it was no longer needed.
Maine 1984 Trailer issue. After 999-999 was reached (possibly used with "Long Term Trailer" plates.) the series rolled to a A12345 format, Just reverse from the passenger series plates of this era.
Maine 1988 Trailer issue. Like the K, L, And M series of passenger plates, these "C" series trailer plates were in this debossed format possibly produced out of state. The individual who had this plate took full use of the debossed sticker boxes on the botton and placed the sticker in the upper left-hand corner rather than lower corner.
Maine 1989 Trailer issue. Right around the time of the introduction of the lobster plates, the trailer plates took on a change as well. Probbally as a time and money saver the paint color was changed from black to blue which was used on most plates of the 90's era.
Maine 1995 Trailer issue. Around the "K 85000" series the new narrow dies were used. This was also done to get ready to produce the new format of plates. This would also be the last letter in succession for the trailer series. (see next plate)
Maine 1997 Trailer issue. After L 99999 was reached the series rolled to an A 123456 format starting at A 100000. To avoid confusion with the "Long Term Trailer" plates (see next) the M through Z series was set aside for that series, therefore requiring a new numbering format. Plates today are currently around A 650000
Maine 1998 Long Term Trailer issue. These have been issued since 1968. In 1988 the 600 and 700 block was set aside for these plates. See below for a listing of years and numbering blocks. Previous plates used a letter. Due to possible confusion and the new dies the year of exp. was displayed as the first digits of the serial.
Maine 2002 Conservation Trailer issue. Starting around 1999/2000 the state introduced 4 new series for the Conservation (loon) plates. These plates are similar to the standard loon plates with the "Natural Treasure" and the stacked "CR" removed The entire "U" and "V" series has beed set aside for these plates. However plate 500U has not even been reachedyet in the 3 years since in introduction.
