| Maine "Chickadee" 2000 issue. Here isthe new Maine general issue. These feature the image of the State bird (chickadee) and flower (pine cone and tassell). These first were issued on July 1, 1999 begining at plate 1 GA making this the 1,310th chickadee plate made. Many plates were issued through the changeover issuing through almost 4 whole letter series. |

| Maine 2001 issue. Start of the "I-" series. The state had not planned to issue plates in the "I-" series but around Late Sep. Early Oct. the "I" plates begain to show. They must have thought otherwise cause it does give them an extra 24 letters they can use (not that they need it) The state ran through the "GA thru the mid "JQ" series which wrapped up the changeover on June 30, 2000. |
| Maine 2001 issue. Around late May the "J" series plates began to show up on the roads. As the state was in the process of the changeover so many plates were floating around it's been hard to tell what town they might have been issued in. Rumors that the state was going to recall the "JU" series of plates because of complaints. If they can find bad combinations with 2 letters, imagine what words can be found with 4 letters like current ontario plates. |

| Maine 2002 issue. In late April early May the first "KA" plate was spotted making the "K-" series the 5th letter series to be issued so far on the chickadee plate since July 1999. This format Should last the state another good 15 years or more without a new general reissue. The "02" sticker is the 3rd sticker of a 5 color rotating pattern. |

| Maine 2003 issue. One of the first series of issues for 2002. The state chose a black on blue color for this year. This sticker color makes it very hard to read the number. The sticker color is the exact color blue as the bottom stripe of the University base making it extremely hard to spot. Thats another slick move made by the state I must say. |
| Maine 2000 issue. Begining of the "H-" series. Some of the "Hx" series were issued in my town in for the inital block of plates received. Even though "GA" was first, some letters sometimes appear before some eariler ones |

| Maine 2003 issue. In June/July the state started issuing some left-over plates from the changeover period, they still however managed to fly up through the entire "Kx" series and now have started their 6th leading letter on the chickadee base thusfar.. Fine example of a 2-digit version. |

| Maine 2004 issue. The state chose this eyesore Orange sticker for 2004. It does stand out I can say that! The inital run of plates for 2003 ran through the "KN" and "KP'" Series through the "LF" series. The first series for 2004 plates started around the "LG" series. |

| Maine 2005 issue. The first "MA" series plate was seen in early January of 2004 therefore crossing over to the states 7th letter on the Chickadee plate. The state reverted back to the original color of the black and white "00" sticker for this "05" sticker making a 5 year rotating pattern for sticker colors. I was hoping that they would have used another color but I know they wont. Oh Well. Plates are currently into the "MQ" series. |
