Maine 1994 issue. In 1993 The standard Maine die set was changed to these newer narrower dies to replace the old ones (and accommidate for 7-digit plates) which were in use to close to 40 years! The switch was made at plate 1 AZ.
Same series as above. No changes except it's just at the start of the "B" series.
Another 1997 issue. Starting at the "CQ" series, of plates the number dies were moved over to the right more. Unfortunatelly more of the lobster is covered (which was probbally a good thing) and the last number is almost centered. The "CS", "CW" and "CX" were reverted back to the left. All issues beyond the "CY" series were of the moved over format.
Maine 1995 issue. Back to the blue sticker for 1995 as it was in 1992, and 89. Nearing the end of the "B-"series of plates.
Maine 1999 issue The "E" series was the last series made in the lobster plates. This was also the series that the state stopped producing plates that end with an "-O". Only people that reserved a previous number would be allowed to have a plate ending in "O". No "EO" series plates were produced, unlike the "AO" through the "DO" series that were produced.
Maine 2000 issue. The end of the lobster bases has come. Last plate produced was June 30, 1999 and ended at 2999 ES. Notice the embossed vacationland at the bottom. There are appx. estimated about 1140 or so plates like this in the ES series. This was done because of the regular "blanks" ran out so vacationland was embossed instead on blanks for motor homes and other unscreened words at the bottom.. Other plates in the ES series have the regular screened vacationland at the bottom. (see next)
Maine 2000 issue. Screened "ES" version. One of the last of the lobster plates issued. These were actually in the original shrink wrap when I got these. However I pulled a dumb move by unwraping them from the package which I kick myself for doing now. Oh well.
Maine 1996 issue. This is one of a very popular letter series seen here in Southern Maine. The state is back to the green sticker for 1996 and would be the last time for the color with the exception of some early 2000 stickers that were produced in green.
Maine 1998 issue. Fine example of a 3-digit plate. For the 1998 sticker, the state chose this black on white color, which was kind of a dumb move consitering how easy it would have been to photocopy and basically make your own sticker. This sticker broke the rotating pattern in use since 1988.
