BAD NEWS! geocities is shutting down! this site will be going down within the next couple of months, before summer is over! i'll try to get this back up on another host, if i can find a free one i like and can work with. grab the list of events now while you can! as usual, the "number" dates may change, but the weekends usually remain the same each year! this also goes for the DeBary family site, as well as the Marion County Museum of History sites. keep googling for us, as i will have to have something back up before the summer is over.

This is the personal website of Jeremy DeBary, also known as Connor Campbell, the Kender, and most recently as "Mr. D" to my students. This website will feature some information about my family, friends, and myself and my interests, as well as some Florida and specifically Marion County and Ocala history. I am now a full-time student at Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee working on completing my teaching degree. i plan on one day having a history classroom with my name on it! at the moment i am working on making some major changes and updates to this site, so please be patient with me as i get them between working full-time and going to school full time. for the latest information on me, and the best way to get a hold of me, click on the link to my Live Journal blog! and a big, huge, special thank you to all my friends who have been so supportive through this whole life-changing process! This just in! as of May 2008, i have been on Facebook! look for Jeremy Earl DeBary! Also, you can find my resume and educational portfolio at "mvhayv.weebly.com". (no, that wasn't a link, i'm working on it)

Entry for October 23, 2007 - Live from Tanasi, land of the Tsalagi!
so for those who have not gotten word yet, i am now in Maryville, Tennessee, attending Maryville College seeking a bachelor's degree in history with secondary education certification. life is one big roller coaster, with good things following bad following good! there has been a lot of good, with things working out just right constantly. at least something, one thing has gone delightfully right everyday. there have been some unfortunate developments as well, however.

going right, i found a job on campus that is willing to work with my school needs. (in the dining hall as a cook - go figure) schoolwork seems to be going well thus far, though i am having some trouble getting to class ontime in the afternoons after lunch. i am making a lot of friends here, and have found a good church to attend.

on the down side, my health has taken another nose dive. my pancreas is working fine this time, rather, my liver has decided to take a turn. apparently i am fairly anemic, and low in blood count all around. the doctors are working hard to turn me into a science project again, with all the poking, prodding, and leeching. (i am still waiting for the results of the ultrasound that was done a week and a half ago. they spoiled me at the little clinic - they got me the blood test results back overnight)

also, the bills are taking some doing to catch up with. i'm getting some fairly aggressive calls from the creditors. but i'm coping, with help from mom and dad.

speaking of mom and dad, they are doing fine, though one of those storms a few weeks ago brought down one of our oldest and largest pine trees in the back yard, right on the roof! it happened in the middle of the night one night, the tree fell, the ceiling caved in, and dad had to dig mom out from under it! we now have a couple of nice, if a bit damp, skylights in mom and dad's bedroom and my old bedroom. the insurance seems to be covering everything as far as repairs, though it seems that even the floor was effected! the only thing that saved mom and dad was the fact that the walls are concrete block, and we have a strategically placed palm tree right up against the back wall. (i attribute it to the Creator myself)

for those who have signed the guestbook, please be aware that if you do not include it, i do not have a way of replying other than this. if you want to hear back from me, you need to leave some info. i'll remove it before i allow your entry to post publically.

also, on the unfortunate list, the laptop has crashed very hard again, this time i am afraid that it is the motherboard. my desktop is still running fine, (better than ever actually) but with it being a 486 that is about 7 years old or more, it really is only good for checking emails. slowly. even with the great internet here on campus.

for the moment, i need to go, but i will get another post in here soon. in the meantime, keep an eye on my other blog - the link is right above, look for "live journal".

for the moment, i have a history paper to write.

success to our friends, confusion to our enemies, i remain,

your most humble and obediant servant,

Connor Campbell

for the technically inclined, i am using the font "papyrus" on this website. i am creating the pages with a combination of microsoft frontpage and the built in editing feature of geocities. i have borrowed some background graphics from the website known as "Pieces of Eight", which is a website dedicated to the history of 17th century pirates. you can find them at http://pieceofeight.com/. they were listed as open to use.

This site fully updated last on 10/22/2006. Partial update 02/18/2007.
