Severe thunderstorms can occur practically anywhere in any region of Australia. However, there are some regions which experience stronger and more frequent thunderstorm activities than other parts of the large continent.

The prime thunderstorm activity zones in Australia are shown below in the diagrams:

As represented in the maps, you can determine:

• ALL areas of Australia are affected by severe thunderstorms activities.
• Most of the heavily affected area is towards inland Australia, mostly away from the coasts apart from a few exceptions.
• Severe thunderstorm activities tend to occur in the Western and Eastern sides of Australia, while the occurrences in central Australia are fairly distributed across the lands.
• Milder thunderstorm activities occur towards the coastal lines and land boundaries of the continent.
