Today, she is still my best friend and a loving, kind-hearted, supportive mom. She selflessly gives her time, talents and energy to her family and friends. Her parents taught her to love and respect all people. She lives this daily, showing compassion, selflessly giving to others and teaching our children to love everyone and admire individuality. In addition to her love for people, she respects nature and adores animals (her dad is a retired vet). She is a sensational mom, teaching, nurturing and sharing these joys with Olivia and James daily!

Olivia is in the first grade. Her teachers have told us that she is the most generous and tenderhearted in her class-- and also the best at math (just like her birthmom!). She has so much love and energy to share. She is a terrific big sister and adores James immensely! She can hardly wait for another brother or sister to arrive!

James also loves to perform and will often convince Olivia to join him in providing Mommy and Daddy with a "dinner show" -- typically an impromtu song and dance routine after supper. He will be a fantastic big brother and is looking forward to another sibling to share exciting adventures, ceaseless laughter and endless experiences!
Nancy's home state is New Jersey. Growing up in New Jersey was a terrific experience because she lived in the country and could also take in professional football and baseball games, as well as musicals and concerts in New York City. Nancy's sister still resides in New Jersey, and her parents and brother's family now live close by in North Carolina.
Olivia's birthfamily lives in northern California, not far from Nancy's cousins. James' birthfamily lives in Texas. We travel out west to visit our birthparents as much as possible, and Olivia's birthmom and her daughter also travel to visit us.
Since spending time with our family is so important we go the extra mile (lots of miles) to visit often. Olivia and James have already logged thousands of miles visiting family and being showered with their heartfelt and sincere love. Our family eagerly awaits the arrival of another child to share their love, laughter and fun!

Fortunately, our careers complement both traveling to see family and flexible work days so that one of us can be home with Olivia and James. Ken's career has been in aviation, initially flying in the military and then as a commercial airline pilot. Nancy works for the federal government and has served in a variety of positions, including on the White House Staff. We are grateful that our work is both rewarding and full of thrilling experiences.
Throughout our lives we have experienced the benefits of education. We believe that learning is a lifelong experience and that a well-rounded education expands beyond the classroom. We take an active role in developing Olivia and James' love of learning and provide them every opportunity to learn both in and out of the classroom. We are especially dedicated to instilling the love of reading and facilitating learning through travel, sports, the arts and music.
