Now that you've finished with the wire-harness, you can go to your car
and begin by removing the factory radio. This can be tricky but
remember to take your time. A small but important thing to
remember is that most panels in your car come out fairly simply once all
the screws are removed.
Before you begin any work on your car, remember to disconnect the battery in order to prevent any electrical shocks. To take out the radio in most cars, you need to remove some of the molding surrounding it. Start with the most visible molding and remove any screws. Remember to look for hidden screws behind the ashtray compartment and screws that are screwed in upwards. Once you've removed the molding, most factory radios are held in place with two to four screws, either from the front or from underneath. Once you've removed the radio, you can proceed with the installation of the installation kit. The installation kit you purchased should have detailed instructions regarding your vehicle, follow them very carefully. Once you've installed the installation kit, you can slide the DIN cage that is usually around the new radio into place and lock it by bending the tabs. Now you can connect the wire-harness to the plug that is in your car and the other end to the radio. Finally slide the radio in place and reinstall all the molding you removed. Have fun with your new radio and check out my link on how to install an amplifier to get even more out of your new radio. |
