Second Chances Part 7 by Keiko
Ok, disclaimers, blah blah, maybe I should just put up a disclaimer for everthing so I don't have to do this every time...
"Houjun! Houjun!" the monk called out. "I'm right here, master." A blue-haired young man jumped down from the rock he was fishing from. "Now, Houjun, you know there's no fish in that pond. You caught the last one years ago!" "I know, master, but it's really peaceful to sit up there and pretend there's actually fish in there." Houjun smiled at the monk who had taken care of him all his life. "Sometimes, it's really nice to take a timeout from life, ne?" The monk beamed at the boy who was like a son to him. "Well, it's almost dark out, so come in. I wanted to ask you if you've decided which high school you wanted to go to." "I've decided. I want to go to Yotsubadai High." Houjun replied without hesitation. "Why? I thought that Jonan was more to your liking." "It's just a gut feeling. I feel like I'm supposed to meet someone there." *********************** "Honoo-san, today is your last day in juvenile hall. Your father told us that he wanted you to go to high school. Now, Honoo-san, you're very intelligent, and I'm sure you can succeed if you wanted to, if only you'd try..." Genrou leaned back into his chair as the familiar speech began. He had long since learned to tune his mind out from such things, while seeming as if he was paying attention. Nodding now and then, he let his mind wander to other things, such as what he was going to do as soon as he was free. ~First, I'm gonna go get plastered. Damn people don't let a drop of liquor into this place.~ "...and last of all, we've arranged for you to go to a high school in Tokyo. It's called Yotsubadai and it's a very good school that has graciously decided to accept you despite your history. I'm sure youll do very well there, Honoo-san." Genrou snapped out of his reverie as the director of the rehabilitation center rose to his feet. "I hope you'll not come back to us, Honoo-san. We've enjoyed having you here." The man shook his hand. "Your belongings have been packed for you, and a train ticket is ready for you as well. We've arranged for you to stay at a Buddhist temple for the duration of the school year." Genrou looked up in surprise, "A Buddhist temple? With monks?" "Yes. Perhaps their clean living will teach you something. Do you have any questions?" Genrou shook his head, inwardly fuming at his bad luck. ~Great, I'll never get drunk if I live with a bunch of damn monks.~ *********************** "Hoshi-sama, your tea is ready." The maid bowed and left. Hoshi sighed. He didn't know why he was going to do what he was going to do. ~Why am I going to Tokyo when I can go to a perfectly good high school here in Kyoto? Why do I feel the need to go to Tokyo? What's there? Why should I go there?~ He massaged his head, his headache rising again. ~And why do I get a headache every time I think about this?~ *********************** "Genbu!! What are you doing to my seishi?! Why are you stopping his memory from arising?! What's your problem?! As your oldest brother I command you to stop!!" Suzaku shouted at his brother deity.
