Curveball! Travis Update - Day +29
Surprise! We're back in the hospital.
Last night (not 6 hours after Travis was dancing in the hallway at the
RMH after being freed of his last IV med) at 3:30 am, Travis awoke with
a splitting headache and then vomiting. SO, they had us bring him in --
back to the HOT unit, where they found his blood pressure to be sky high.
Travis received BP medicine and immediately felt better. So, we're here
for at least one more night as they watch his blood pressure, which has
crept up again today (they think the steroids and cyclosporine ar the causes
of the BP problems and nausea), and also while they adjust his meds.
But Travis being the sweetie he is, is taking it in stride. In fact I
was fascinated that in the middle of the night, rather than dread the thought
of coming back in the hospital, Travis was begging to come in (he was that
miserable). I guess he really knows this is the place that will help him
get well.
But he's feeling great at the moment, back to eating, good humor and
high energy. In fact, this little cowpoke is, as I type, practicing his
LASSOING skills with his brand spankin new lasso that just arrived to round
out his real live, rootin tootin cowboy costume!
Strange that everyone on the HOT welcomed us back like old friends. The
parents, especially, greeted us with concern. As you can imagine, we're
all hoping for good results for all the kids. Gives us all hope and inspiration.
Anyway, we're treating this as a "blip" on the path to recovery
-- nothing more, nothing less.
Love from us,
Melanie. Joe, Cowboy Travis and Batman Spencer |
