The Questers

Ahh yes, the Questers. These are the beings that are the central focus of the Keeper's quest. Quester Stones are objects that have a great amount of power in them. Pretty much, they are the holders of the rules of the different dimensions. Each Stone has certain dimensional laws that it governs, like say the gravity constant or that 'this' is the genetic coding of life... You know, things that make the world go round. Anyway, this is just begging for trouble because sometimes, two stones will have laws that oppose one another. Because of this, Quester Stones are very vicious and will seek out and destroy any other Quester Stones in its dimension.

To achieve this task, Quester Stones pick beings to protect them called Questers. These Questers are given the powers from the Stone in order to achieve this goal. Now, remember that not all Quester Stones are true stones, they can be anything from a key on your keyboard to the planet you are sitting on now. Think things are complicated now? Just wait, it gets worse.
As there is a set number of Quester Stones in each dimension, it is unavoidable that at some point, there will be only one stone left. This means that the Stone, and it's Quester, are able to control everything in that one dimension. Everything. When this happens, the Quester Stone is given the name of Central Quester Stones, because of the fact it is now the center of the dimension.

Sometimes, these Central Stones will take it one step further and become a physical, living being, or a Living Quester Stone. The Questers of these Central stones are sometimes over by their own stone. They lose everything and become an empty shell to provide a body for the Quester Stone. These Living Questers are often perceived as evil, because they must seek out power from other beings in other dimensions to keep themselves alive. Sometimes, however, the Quester wins the power fight and takes over the stone, becoming one with it. These beings are able then to take the next step in Quester evolution; to become a race.

Instead of there being one living Quester Stone, there are now hundreds, or thousands of them, all with the same powers and all with the same hunger for power. This will then lead to these Dark Sides, as they are called, to taking over other dimensions and pulling the power from the taken Quester Stones there into their own, as single beings no longer give the power needed to sustain life. These dimensions are few and far between, thankfully.

Another complication is this: Central Quester Stones and Dark Sides also effect the laws of other dimensions they cross because they are so powerful. So, closing off these dimensions completely can cause great amounts of trouble to other dimensions. Sometimes in all this, there comes a dimension where all the Central Quester Stones and Dark Sides cross one another.
These dimensions are called Central Dimensions. Their destruction, either by a Dark Side or other means, would cause monumental chaos, not to mention the death of everything, even other dimensions. Another reason for the Keeper's creation. The dimension that we, humans, live in now is one of these Central Dimensions and the Keeper's job is to keep it from being destroyed. Scary, hu?

This is a listing off all the Questers and their Stones that have been seen thus far in the books. There are a total of ten Central Quester Stones and three Dark Sides, all of which are listed here. There are other Quester Stones from other dimensions called Lesser Quester Stones because their dimension is not yet a Central. You'll see what I mean as we go along.

Questers

Madam Richard - First Appearance: The Quester
Madam Richard was first seen when Tech went stone collecting. She is the Quester to two central stones, the stone of Coming and the stone of Ice. These stones are from the first and the fourth dimension, respectively. The powers that Richard receives from the Coming stone is the ability to predict the future of herself and others. It also gives her a bit of telepathy. The Stone of Ice gives her the powers of near immortality, she was three hundred when Tech came to her, but it also gives her a cold heart and requires that she live in a world almost frozen in time and place. At the same time, it also gives her the power of Ice itself. She is a witch of sorts, able to cast spells that deal with ice. For you D&D players out there, you know what I mean.

The Stone of Malice - First Appearance: The Quester
This is a Questerless Stone. It's powers are of that of hate mostly. It can cause beings within a certain radius of it to become hateful toward others, even their friends. It draws from such things to receive it's power. Should this stone every find a Quester, that Quester will no doubt become a hunter, seeking out hate for it's stone to sustain enough power to survive. For now, however, the stone has been hidden in a desolate dimension that has little that the stone could use for a Quester in it.

Bringer - First Appearance: 'Keeper Comic Strip'
Bringer, before he died, was the Quester of Fire, the stone from the third dimension. After Bringer was killed by Venom, the Raptor mysteriously ended up with the Stone of Fire, though she was unable to control it. Still, the stone gave her a light power that she would be left with for all of time, the white fire. The stone itself is currently Questerless, but it's powers deal with that of fire... All fires from all dimensions. It is quite powerful once it falls into the right hands.... or the wrong.

The Raptor - First Appearance: The Quester
Like you didn't see this one coming... The Raptor is the Quester of Late. She is the Quester to a Central Quester Stone. her stone is shaped like that of an old, gold plated, garden key that is about five inches long. Her Central Dimensions is the Fifth, also given the name of the Land of Puns and the Dimension to all Other Dimensions, and for good reason. The Raptor's Stone is actually a pun itself. The powers of it include that of people's past. It either makes them forget it or makes them unable to forget. Also, it can strip a person's present away, leaving that one stuck in the past. Or vise-versa. The Quester Stone gives Raptor an array of other powers, most of them being on the lines of telepathy, though she is slowly developing her telekinesis powers. She also can use the fifth to travel to various dimensions that it crosses almost at will. Side effects are that it will not allow her to forget her past and that it often makes her speak in riddles. The stone has also helps her in controlling her morphing ability, so that it does not back fire on her.

Amber - First Appearance: The Quester
This is the Quester Stone of the sixth. It comes in the form of an old locket. Amber has no idea the extent of her powers. She has, in effect, the ability to make friends with anyone who comes in close enough contact with Amber. In essence, she could unite the world if she so wished. However, she does not know the full extent of this. This stone does not have many powers, save to give the Quester the ability to make friends, keep them, and the wisdom to solve problems. The stone's friendship ability actually protects it, as any hostile Questers seeking to destroy it will become friends as soon as they are close enough. Also, this stone seems to have a strong ability to hide from other Quester Stones. At least until the Power Stone was near it. Neat trick, hu?

Mother - First Appearance: The Quester
Mother is the Quester of Life, from the seventh dimension. She has the ability to sustain and create life almost at will. It grants her the powers of long life, strength, endurance, wisdom, intelligence, dexterity, and even charisma. (This seem familiar to anyone else?) She is the strongest of the warriors that she has created to protect herself and the Quester Stone. The forest around them is also of her creation. Mother pulls her powers from the life that she creates. From their birth to their death, everything they do gives her power.

The Stone of Power - First Appearance: The Quester
This is another one of those Questerless stones. This is one of the stronger stones of the ten Central Dimensions in that it can pull the power from the other stones to create a greater power. Also, this stone is the key in the union of the Central Dimensions. As powerful and potential dangerous it is, it's destruction would, in no doubt, destroy everything, and then some. The Stone of Power was masterfully hidden in a Dark Side, as seen in The Quester. The powers of this stone are really unknown, though there is no doubt that if the stone every found itself a Quester, that Quester would have almost unlimited power in any and all fields of the Quester's liking.

The Stone of Daring - First Appearance: The Quester
This stone was hidden in the Dark Side called the Labyrinth of Horror. It is the stone of the ninth dimension. Like the name says, this stone is able to grant it's holder the powers of bravery, at a price, however. The stone will give it's holder a for of stupid bravery, in that they fear nothing, will take up any challenge, no matter the chance of their successes. This is one of the more greedy stones of it's kind. It purposely attacks beings of great power to absorb them by having them die under one of these stupid bravery dimensions. This stone is expected to becoming a living stone in time, once it finds a shell it is pleased with.

Arachnid - First Appearance: The Quester
Arachnid is currency the only Living Quester stone that the Keepers are aware of. Arachnid is the Quester of Fear, and his dimension is the tenth. The Quester that was once the holder of the Fear Stone has been long lost to history and to the power of the Quester Stone. Arachnid's powers are that of fear. He can inspire it in anyone, now matter how strong that being is. He can also see into the future and manipulate the dreams he gives to his victims to encompass their fears, hoping that they will die of fright in the future. If this happens at any point, Arachnid will gain that being's soul. More will be seen of Arachnid, this is for certain.

Technus - First Appearance: The Quester
Tech doesn't know he's a Quester. All he knows is that the watch that he has gives him the ability to slow time around him while he remains in the same time. The old watch that he has is a lesser Quester Stone from another dimension, though no one knows which one. A slight bit of time control is the extent of this stone's power. More power may come to it later, if Tech ever figures out what he is.

Earth - First Appearance: The Quester (Actually, I hope sometime before then)
I told you Quester Stones could be anything, so why not whole planets? Humans are actually the Questers to the planet Earth, but they don't know it yet, though they will when another Quester Stone comes to take over Earth, as it has happened twice in the past. Twice? Well, you'll have to read the Comic Strip to understand any of this, it's too hard to explain, but much easier to show. Besides, it keeps you confused. ::grins::

Dark Sides

The First Dark Side - First Appearance: The Quester
This is the first of the Dark Sides that the Keepers found and is how these dimensions earned the name Dark Side. The dimension is truly pitch black and is quite dangerous. The Living Questers there are called Whispers. The extent of their powers are unknown, having been lost to time when the Questers defeated their stones and became something that could only be called Gods.

The Dimension of No Return - First Appearance (or in this case, first explanation of): Of Venom and Antidote
This Dark Side is just that, a dimension that you don't come back from. Bringer was lost to this dimension when Venom disobeyed an order from the Raptor involving an important mission as this Dark Side once tried to over take Earth. Since the discovery of this dimension, the portal to it has been locked away at Keeper headquarters to prevent it from trying another take over. As there is only a way to this dimension, it made locking it off very easy, but it also meant that there was no hope for Bringer's return.

The Labyrinth of Horror - First Appearance: The Quester
Tech and Tran were pretty much tossed into this hellish dimension. Still, they did not experience the true horror of place as no Keeper has yet to lay eyes on the Questers of this dimension. Arachnid is often known for sending the victims he cannot kill himself to this dimension in the hopes that they will die of fright at some point. Like the other Dark Sides, the specific powers of the Living Questers have been lost to time.
