(II.3) Whether an act constitutes harassment depends on how it is
regarded by the recipient rather than the motive or intention
of the perpetrator.
(II.4) Aims:
(a) To actively promote an environment free from intimidation or victimisation on any grounds.
(b) To create an atmosphere of respect for diversity of the society body.
(II.5) Implementation:
(a) This society will not tolerate bullying or harassment and complaints made will be treated seriously, confidentially and with sensitivity.
(b) In the interests of impartiality and fairness, every effort will be made to carefully establish the facts of the case before an appropriate course of action is determined.
(c) Membership to this society requires a commitment to Equal Opportunities. Individuals must comply with this policy and failure to do so may result in an escalation of the complaint to KUSU Sabbaticals and may thereby result in disciplinary action.
(d) Implementation of this policy is the responsibility of all members of the committee.
(e) Any complaints with regards to bullying or harassment should be directed to the committee and then to a KUSU Sabbatical.
(II.6) Sanctions:
(a) It is the responsibility of the committee in consultation with KUSU Sabbaticals to recommend an appropriate course of action if a complaint is made.
(b) The complaint will thereafter be dealt with through channels laid out in the Equal Opportunities policy of KUSU.
(c) The making of false or malicious complaints of bullying or harassment will result in disciplinary action by KUSU.
(d) Should the society be found to be showing insufficient commitment to, or disregard for, this and the KUSU Equal Opportunities policy, it may be sanctioned in the following ways:
i) Fine and warning.
ii) Withdrawal of all advertising.
iii) Suspension of use of financial accounts.
iv) Suspension or closure.
v) Any other punishment as outlined in
KUSU�s disciplinary regulations.
(III) Elections
(III.1) Aims:
(a) This society aims to ensure that every candidate is treated equally within all election processes.
(b) This society notes that members from all areas of the society body should be encouraged to stand for and vote in elections.
(III.2) Implementation:
(c) This society regards the committee as responsible for
ensuring equal treatment for all candidates.
