| This is my Giant African Land Snail. His name is Sydney. I got him for my youngest daughter Emma because she was always collecting snails in the garden and keeping them in a biscuit tin, I would have to go and empty it every couple of days and then she would go and find more. So I decided to get her a snail of her own. A couple of weeks later a friend said they knew someone who had some baby snails. So thirty mins and 50p later we were the proud owners of a baby snail. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I knew nothing about looking after snails so off I went to the local pet store and I bought a very small book on snail care. Well nearly two years later an he is still alive and well so I must be doing something right. He eats most fruit and vegetables but his favorite food is cucumber, and he loves to eat the soft fleshy parts of the food. He doesn't need water as he gets all he needs from his food, and I sometimes spray his tank if he starts to look too dry. The occasional tiny drop of beer is his treat. |
