Hello all!
Well, this diary entry is long overdue, but instead of boring you with the reasons, I'll get right to it.

Obviously I have to start back on May 18, when we drove up to Michigan (just outside of Detroit) for the Motor City Comicon. Yes, we are comic readers, and we decided it would be fun to go to a larger convention. It was really cool. We met lots of writers and artists, and got some of our comics signed. I took a small sketchbook with me and some of the artists were willing to do little sketches for me...one of them even did me in anime style. The coolest part of the whole thing though, was getting to meet some celebrities. We met Jerry Doyle, who played Garibaldi on Babylon 5, and he was so funny...he was even offering to trade people autographed photos for hockey tickets. And we met Space Ghost himself, George Lowe, who sounds exactly like the character and is such a joker...he doesn't just autograph a photo, he writes an entire story on it, complete with snack tips and lotto numbers! But I think the coolest thing was getting to meet Billy Dee Williams. He doesn't seem to age much at all and he was so smooth. Now we have a bunch of autographed photos that we can frame and hang in the basement bar (when it eventually gets done).

That same week (on May 21st) our favorite band, rubyhorse released their debut album. "Rise" is an amazing album. Most of the songs were on their independant release, "How Far Have You Come", but they tweeked them a bit for the major label debut and they seriously rock. We couldn't wait to go and pick the album up after work...we even bought extra copies of it! This is a must for any music lover. And if you like the Beatles, you should know that George Harrison played slide guitar on one of the songs, "Punchdrunk".

As for Memorial Day weekend, it was relatively uneventful. We went out with friends that Friday night to see "Blade 2" a second time. We actually liked it better than the first time we saw it! That Sunday we drove up to Cleveland for a rib cook-off. It wasn't all that exciting but the new location down by the lake was rather nice. And on the Monday we celebrated in true American style...we went shopping! Oh, and we had our own little cook-out for dinner that night. Kylan just doesn't feel right if he can't grill almost every weekend when the weather is nice!

We had some great news in the middle of last week (May 29th). Kylan went into his staff meeting that morning and was told that he had been voted Employee of the Quarter by coworkers and credit union members. He was so shocked! They gave him balloons, flowers, a cake, movie passes, a certificate, a football clock, an extra vacation day, passes for 4 one-hour lunches, and a bonus in his pay for the next three months. He called me right away and he couldn't even get the words out. He still walks around the house mumbling that it just doesn't feel right!

And finally, we make it to this past weekend. Our dog Spirit turned two years old on Saturday and we gave him his own little party. We took him to Petsmart and let him pick his own toys and treats. Plus he shared in our spaghetti dinner and even had a piece of birthday cake! We also had some outdoor time on Sunday when we had a bit of a picnic lunch at a nearby park. And a bit more gardening got done as well.

That's all for now!
D.
