May 17, 2002.

Just to get it out of the way first thing...we went to see the new Star Wars movie on opening day. Actually we did the corny fan thing and saw the first showing at 12:01am on May 16th. Luckily we had bought our tickets ahead of time, online. We still had to stand in line to get in to the theatre though. By the time the doors opened, the line was almost completely across the parking lot. We were glad we got there around 11pm and ended up in the first third of the line! We were packed in like sardines but we had good seats.

Amazingly, the movie started almost on time. It was really good...better than the first one from a couple years back. There is a lot more action in this one and the story is filled out well. If you enjoyed the other installments in the series, you will definitely like this one. And even if you're not a big Star Wars fan, Attack of the Clones is good entertainment. And I'm not giving anything away by saying that in this 'chapter' you really see why Yoda (yes, that little green muppet) is a Jedi master!

We made it to the nursery this week to buy some plants and flowers. We bought a couple of evergreens (Alberta Blue Spruce, actually) at Home Depot first (great price). I planted one to the left of our front steps and the other will be planted on the right but I have to get the bushes that are there cut out first. We also went to a local nursery and bought a few perennials (just a start), a pot, and some annuals. The pot is wide and round...it fits nicely on the column at the top of our front steps. I planted an entire flat of annuals in it...burgundy and purple petunias, dark red coleus, and purple and white lobelia. The pot is nice and full and should look really nice once the flowers are in full bloom. As for the perennials, I haven't had a chance to plant them yet (for the same reason that I didn't plant the second evergreen). I'll be taking pictures as soon as everything is planted and I'll keep them updated to show their growth.

That's all for now. We are driving up to Michigan on Saturday to attend the Motor City Comicon. In case you didn't guess by the name, it's a huge comic book convention. (We are such geeks when it comes to comics!) Actually, there aren't any comics we are searching for...it's more of a day trip to make up for our cancelled trip to Memphis that was supposed to take place this weekend. But we will get to meet some celebrities, including Lando himself, Billy Dee Williams! (I have to admit to being a little excited about that.)

Hopefully, I'll have photos of everything posted next time.
