July 1, 2002. Happy Canada Day!Happy Independence Day! ![]() Well, once again I've waited more than just a couple of weeks before posting a new diary entry. At this time of year though, not much seems to be going on. As for work, it's the same as always for the both of us. And as for the house, we are still fixing it up a little at a time, although I have done some more gardening and can now say that all of the annuals that are going to be planted have been planted. The biggest news of the past few weeks is that my best friend Jane has moved from Toronto all the way out west to Edmonton. She has followed her military man out there and they are beginning a whole new life together. Although I've been away from Toronto for a few years, it is odd to think that Jane will no longer be living across the street from my parents. I talked to her on the phone just a few nights ago and they are settling in quite well. They have even gotten themselves a dog already. He is a five year old greyhound named Tigger. Now for a movie update. We haven't seen many movies this month but we did see two of the biggies, "Scooby Doo" and "Lilo & Stitch". I have to say that "Scooby" was a pretty fun movie. And the actors did really well bringing the characters to life, especially Shaggy. Being the Disney freak that I am, it was a given that we would go to "Lilo & Stitch". Plus, there is the Elvis element as well. Kylan and I agree that this is the greatest movie that Disney has released in a long time. It is so much fun! It's a great story, with realistic characters, and makes you laugh and cry. I do believe that Stich will become one of my favorite Disney characters. We are definitely going to see this movie again! One of the most interesting things to have happened lately occurred barely two weeks ago. Kylan, being the lucky man that he is, got a call at work from a local radio station. They had chosen his song mix (submitted online more than a month ago) and not only did he get to be on the radio, but they gave him a prize too! He won dinner at a place in Lakewood (a suburb west of Cleveland) called Swingo's. The certificate arrived just in time for us to go there to celebrate our 2nd anniversary on the 27th. It was an amazing dinner. This restaurant was really expensive and had truly gourmet food. The entrees alone were over $25 each! We had a really great time and enjoyed the amazing view over the Cleveland skyline. And speaking of our anniversary, yes, we have been married for two years already. The time seems to have flown by but so much has happened. When we married, I had just graduated from law school and was preparing for the bar, Kylan was working at a bank (a job he didn't like), we lived in an apartment, and had no pets. Now I'm a licensed attorney working from home, Kylan's at the credit union, we both love our jobs, we are in our own house, and we have two dogs. That's a big difference! Oh, and as for anniversary gifts, Kylan gave me a great new camera (being the photog of the family) and he had a dozen red roses delivered to me. I gave him a Pittsburgh Steelers helmet (his fave team), autographed by the one and only "Mean" Joe Green (his fave player). And, of course, I will have pics ready for next time. I've been putting my new camera to good use already! That's all for now, D. Books Recently Read Dawn: American Gods by Neil Gaiman.....6 out of 7 (A really great fantasy novel written by a renowned comic book writer. He has three other, equally great fantasy novels.) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling.....5 out of 7 (More exciting than the first three Potter novels, but also more violent.) Kylan: Seal Team Seven by Keith Douglass.....2 out of 7 (Hated it! Dragged on and on with a completely unrealistic protagonist.) |
