DOB: Again bearing in mind that it is 2380
Place of Birth: Hometown, planet
Family: Parents, siblings
Languages: Standard, (add a couple for interest)
Hobbies: What does the character like to do when not working?
Education/Starfleet:
Where did the character go to school? Did he/she attend Starfleet Academy or are they enlisted? If they attended the Academy, what did they study? Where did they serve when they graduated?

One of the reasons we plug �detailed� backgrounds so much is that next to personality, this is the single biggest driving force behind a character�s life. Take your own as an example. Odds are, the path your life has taken has been guided by events in your past. A character would be no different. What�s happened in you character's life? Some thoughts:
- Has he/she been lucky in love?
- Unlucky in love?
- Did he/she lose a parent or parents?
- Has he/she had any major joys in life?
- Has he/she had any major tragedies in life?
- What hobbies interests doe he/she have?
- Were his/her Academy marks average but his/her practical skills stunning?
- These are just a few thoughts to spark ideas; the possibilities are endless! (A clich�, but true)
This is a really important one. While there is no hard an fast rule on the exact �type� of personality accepted into the USS Merlin PBeM Group, it�s safe to assume that Starfleet entrance examinations would weed out those who would be unfit for active duty. (That having been said, there is still lots of room for originality here in the form of quirks and idiosyncrasies � Reg Barclay, TNG comes to mind!) The bottom line, is, the more detailed the personality, the more interesting the character becomes for everyone. (As a side note, the more detailed the character�s personality is, the easier it will be for CO to create a scenario that incorporates all the players, and that, of course, means more fun for you!)
