The Merlin has been sent by Starfleet on what appears to be a routine mission: Delivery of a science team and their equipment to the Arismal system to investigate a star that should have millions of years of life left to it, and yet is dying. Starfleet wants to know if such a fate could befall Earth�s sun. Joining the team is eminent Andorian stellar researcher Dr. Arok Tyl.
Listed as uninhabited by long range probes, Arismal III is a lush Class M world ideal for a temporary solar observatory. The crew soon find, however, that the planet may hold even more questions than her volatile stellar parent.
