The Industrial Visit for this session was to a local biomedical related company, SSP Meditech Group. A brief company profile is given below :

SSP is a Malaysian company formed in 1993 with the objective of providing cost effective biomedical equipment maintenance and management services to hospitals in Malaysia and in the region. From its modest beginning, SSP has now grown to be Malaysia's largest biomedical company with over 200 trained employees and fully equipped workshops in all major towns in Northern Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah/Sarawak. SSP secured ISO 9002 Certification in 1999 and also has the necessary Government licenses required to perform comprehensive maintenance of medical equipment. SSP has spread its wings to Canada, Middle East, India and Brunei, and currently negotiating work in Thailand. SSP has invested substantially in developing Malaysian Human Resources and has entered into an understanding with University of Malaya to develop biomedical engineering as a formal area of study. SSP has associated with Multinationals such as the Renong Group, Johnson Controls USA, GE Medical Systems and the Belbadi Group UAE.
