Blobs, the remains of a Super Nova

NICMOS captures the heart of OMC-1

These images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope's Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) shows the birth of multiple new and young stars in the Orion Nebula. The Orion cloud OMC-1 houses the BN (Becklin-Neugebauer), a massive young star.

The glorious death of a star

The picture of the egg nebula shown here was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2). Since the human eye can not process infra-red light, color was added to this image to show detail. Blue represents light reflected by dust and red represents heat.
