The wheel of the year consists of eight sabbats or days of power. All the sabbats are solar in nature tracking the movement of the sun through the year. The eight sabbats can be broken down into major and minor sabbats. The major sabbats Samhain, Imbolc,Beltane, and Lughnasadh are planting, harvesting, and hunting ceremonies. Where as the minor sabbats Yule, Ostara,Litha and Beltane are the equinoxes and solstices. Each sabbat has certain legends that are connected to it and these legends are generally acted out at the rituals or celebrations.Below are listed the appoximate dates for each sabbat (they change each year.)
