Information For Students

Welcome to my Assessment Page for Head Start Students!

Assessment is a way for teachers to see how much you’re learning and what you’ve learned. This year I will see how much you learn by assessing you 4 different ways and none of them involve tests or homework!

·       Your family will fill out an ASQ-SE so that I can see how well you are doing socially and emotionally. We will be talking about things like how well you cooperate with your friends and adults, how well you use your words and your mood.

·       You will be doing an ESI three times a year; once in the fall, once in the winter and once again in the spring. To do your ESI you will work with a teacher to complete 25 short and fun tasks. Examples of the things you will are writing your name, drawing a picture of yourself and building with blocks.

·       I will watch you during worktime and sometimes you might notice me writing things down, this is called observation. I’m writing down all of the things you say and do that show me what you’re learning at school.

·       I will also be saving some of your work for a folder called a portfolio. Every month I will have you write your name and draw a picture of yourself for your portfolio. I might also take your picture or put some of your artwork in your portfolio. I show all your work to your family during teacher conferences and when it’s time for you to go to kindergarten I send it to your teacher!
