Photos of SDF at work from Kate's first business trip upcountry
Here is what the grain looks like when it comes out of the milling machine.  The man at the right is Dr. Baldeh, the head of SDF and Kate's boss. Here he attends a ceremony where 6 villages are given new milling machines
Here is a milling machine at work.  The villagers, and people from all around bring their grain and corn to be ground - each bowl costs about 2 Dalasi (12 cents).  The machine is owned by a group  of 40 village women.  Previously, they used to grind millet by hand, which took hours.  With the extra time, they get a bit more sleep, and have more time to take care of their children and operate petty trading stalls to earn money
Here's Mali, an SDF driver, with the vehicle we traveled in.  4 Wheel drive king cabs are the wheels of choice over here given the roads.  We were either 4 or 5 in this car.  The back is too dusty to ride in most of the time, but helpful for delivering machinery and carrying baggage.
