Negg Sweeper

NeggSweeper is a Puzzle Game with a rating of Easy

NeggSweeper is based on the Windows game MineSweeper, so its a good idea to practice with MineSweeper first!

NeggSweeper is a HTML Game, this means it plays in your browser instead of opening up a seperate Flash Window. You pay 30 NeoPoints to play, and you can win up to 5000 NeoPoints each day. There are three levels, easy, medium and hard. The main difference is in the size of the playing board. Easy is a very small board, meduim is a medium sized board, and hard is a big board. Also affected by the game difficulty is the bonus points you get for clearing large areas, you get more points the harder the level.

There are two highscore tables, one for a single game, and one for cumulative games!

The basic idea is to click on the grey Neggs to remove them, this will reveal a number, which tells you how many bad Neggs are in the surrounding touching squares (including diagonals). So a "1" would meen there was only one bad Neggs touching that square, a "2" would meen two bad Neggs, and so on.

You dont want to hit a bad Negg! That meens Game Over! :(

Use your common sence, and this guide to help you win!

Basic Tips

I normally start in the corners, for some reason I find this easier!

If you uncover a numbered square, and you know you already have that number of bad Neggs in the squares touching it, you know you are safe to remove any other grey neggs!

Play slow, take your time and dont rush. Sometimes the game can be quite slow if the site is busy, but dont try to remove more then one Negg at a time!

Mark your Bad Neggs as you go along - you can do this by holding down the Shift key and clicking on the Bad Negg.

Practice playing MineSweeper in Windows first - its the same game! (also it plays faster on Windows, and you wont be wasting NeoPoints trying to learn the game).

Start with the Easy level first, work your way through the Medium level. Once you are comftable with how the game works, play on the Hard level - it takes longer, and it can be very tricky sometimes, but the increased bonuses are worth it!

Advanced Game Play

Example One - Example Two - Example Three - Example Four - Example Five

Through playing NeggSweeper, I have noticed that some situations seem to come up all the time. They can be tricky when you first look at them, but with a bit of careful thought, and the example below, we should be able to get you through them!

Example One

This is quite a common starting situation that I get a lot, as I always tend to start in the corners.
As you can see, the highlighted square indicated that a single bad Negg has to be in one of these two purple sqaures.
The bad Negg is in one of these two purple squares, and both sqaures are touching the new highlighted square.
As we know the bad Negg has to be in one of the purple squares, and that the highlighted square indicates it has only one bad Negg touching it, we know we are safe to remove the three green squares.
Once the green squares have been removed, we can see that the two highlighted squares are both touching only one square, therefore that square has to be a bad Negg!

Example Two

Here is another common situation, normally occuring somewhere in the middle of the board.

We know that the red square is a bad Negg, and the highlighted square indicates that two bad Neggs are next to it, so we know it has to be one of the purple squares. But only one of the purple square is going to be a bad Negg.

As we know one of the purple sqaures is a bad Negg, we can see that the new highlighted square also indicats two bad neggs near it, so we know one of these is in purple squares.
As only one of the purple squares can be a bad Negg, we know that the remaining sqaure next to the highlighted square has to be a Negg, so we mark it (or in this cas, colour it red!)
As the newly discovered bad Negg is next to a square which indicate only one bad Negg (highlighted) we know we can safely remove the green squares.
Now that we have removed the green squares, we can see the remaining bad Negg as indicated by the highlighted squares.

Example Three

Again, this is a very common opening situation for me, as I tend to start in the courners!
As we can see, according to the highlighted square, the one bad Negg has to be in one of the purple squares.
As this highlighted square also indicates only one bad Negg nearby, and it shares the purple squares, its single bad Negg must also be contained in the purple sqaures.
This leaves us free to remove the green sqaures indicated!

Example Four

This gets more complicated now.
We know these red squares are bad Neggs
If we look at this highlighted square, we can see we already have two bad Neggs touching it. So we need to find two more bad Neggs.
We have a choice of these three sqaures in which to find two more bad Neggs.
If we look at this highlighted square, we can see we have already found one of its two bad Neggs. As two of the three purple squares have to be bad Neggs, and two of the three purple squares tough our highlighted sqaure, we know only one of the two purple sqaures indicated has a bad Negg.
As only one bad Negg can be in the purple squares, we know that the indicated red square has to be a bad Negg, so we mark it.
Also we know that one of the two purple sqaures will give us our second bad Negg for the highlighted sqaure, so we know it is safe to remove the green sqaures!

Example Five

Another tricky situation
We know the red square is a bad Negg, so according to the highlighted sqaure, the second bad Negg has to be one of the purple sqaures.
This highlighted square also indicates two bad Neggs, one of which is in the purple sqaures.
As only one bad Negg is in the two original purple sqaures, we know that the second bad Negg has to be in one of the indicated purple sqaures.
As this higlighted sqaure shows it only has one bad Negg touching it, we know it has to be in one of our purple squares.
So we can saefly remove the green squares. Also only one of these purple sqaures can be a bad Negg, so the final purple sqaure not touching our highlighed sqaure must be a bad Negg.
So we highlight it.
This means that this green sqaure is now safe, as our highlighted sqaure has its two bad Neggs indicated in red.
