Resolution on SEMEP Summer School ,,Danube Delta - 2003" - Romania

Summer School ,,Danube Delta - 2003" was held in Tulcea - Romania from 13 June to 15 June. The participants were students from the High School of Natural Sciences ,,Academic Metodi Popov" - Varna, Bulgaria and students from Agricultural College ,,Nicolae Cornateanu" - Tulcea, Romania.

 

The goals of the meeting were:

•   to promote the sustainable development in the Black Sea region;

•   to get awareness that transboundary water resources and their use are a great importance to states sharing the same river ecosystem;

•   to have knowledge about the bio-diversity in Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve;

•   to share experience and ideas based on mutual respect regarding cultural heritage

•   the principals of peace and tolerance among young people The agenda consists of:

-   outdoor activities in Danube Delta
-   visit the Information Centre of Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve
-   work shops
-    field trips to Cocos and Celic Dere Monasteries
-    sightseeing
-   presentations and discussions
-   posters' exhibition
-   final debates on future SEMEP activities

The conclusions concerning SEMEP Summer School ,,Danube Delta -2003" are that the goals have been reached via:

-   following SEMEP principles about team work based on friendship and common interests and tolerance, creativity and imagination, environmental awareness. After the final evaluation our propoosals are:
-   to involve SEMEP schools from Turkey and Greece
-   to organize teachers training and students' exchange
-   to create a national SEMEP web-site
-            to promote a SEMEP route with natural and cultural site among neighbour countries
-   to exchange information about UNESCO International Days
-   to published a revue summarising our mutual work once or twice a year

This SEMEP Summer School was an opportunity for students and teachers to collaborate following the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection.
