Do you believe that kissing the four saints martyrs’ chest you can find peace of the soul and tranquility?
Vesselina: Well, no. I don’t believe in this. Just kissing something, what ever it is, is not enough to find soul peace and tranquility. To find them, you have to do more. You have to. Live your life and to learn its lessons. When you did it, you will have the right to fight for soul peace. You can’t just find it, you have to work for it. Everyone has a chance to win this, if he has the faith and really wants it.
Dobromira: I am not sure.
I think that only kissing the chest is not enough but I believe that you can take a blessing which to protect you after leaving the monastery.
In my opinion the peace of the soul and tranquility cannot just be given. One must find them himself, because only in this case they will be really real.
But I don’t dare to say that there is no power. May be in these chests exists a power able to help. If we could have some of it, it would be wonderful. If we couldn’t it would be a pity, but that’s life. We can’t fight against it.
Hristian: I don’t believe in that, but may be some people do. I think that if you make only good things and help people who are in need, you will find your soul peace and tranquility.
M.Kasabova: Why not. Let me believe in miracles. I know if I try to be good, if my prayers are sincere, if I don’t do harm, my and my family’s life will be better. So, I took my blessing from the chests and hope them to help me in my difficult everyday life
. I have my belief deeply in my heart.
Nikolay: I do not believe in such kind of powers. But there are many people who believe. So we must respect their feelings
Why do you think the nuns made the decision to give up everything and dedicate her life to the God? Could you do that?
Nikolay: May be the nuns strongly believe in God. So. their decision is to serve him. Probably she thinks that this is the only thing which she should do all her life.
I couldn’t be able to act this way. May be because of the way I was brought up. I am not used to going to church and I don’t believe in God.
Hristian: There are a lot of reasons to dedicate one’s whole life to God. One of them is that the nun has made something wrong and wants to be forgiven. Nuns dedicate their lives to God because they want to find soul peace and tranquility. I don’t think I will be able to do that.
Dobromira: The nuns live very simple life. They have given all they were, are and will be, to god. They have left the real life and now they live in a very close community where there are different rules and different duties.
I really don’t understand decisions like that but I think that these women believe in God too much and he has become they practically live for. May be are disappointed in the life and people, may be they can’t understand why people could be so bad and selfish.
I think I couldn’t do this because I don’t believe in God enough. I can’t give my all I am to somebody who may be even doesn’t exist.
Vesselina: I really don’t know how the nuns live and I can’t understand why they are doing this. Well,
probably they have a strong faith in God. But I also think that faith should help you in your life but not TO BE your life. I don’t think I can ever do something like that. I believe that there are more important things to do in my lifetime. I also can’t live such a quiet and peaceful life. I prefer risk and danger – that’s my lifestyle- that’s
what I am, for good or bad.
Martina: The life of the nuns is very difficult. They seem so sainty. To my mind nuns’ life is a little bit strange. They live in respect and fear of God. Their days pass in prayers. They wake up early in the morning, go to the church in the monastery and speak to God (hoping that he will hear and help them to make people’s life a little better.) I don’t know the reason that made them become nuns. I suppose something bad has happened in their life, so they decided there is a great power, which commands the universe. The nuns live far away from our world, from lies.
WHY is the Danube Delta so important for its biodiversity? Think globally!
Martina: Biodiversity is the base of life. The Danube Delta area is a world treasure. There could be seen a lot of natural wonders.
The Delta area contains a combination of conditions and species. The climate continental temperature, the Danube waters are suitable for many species. For example, the red-breasted goose from the Russian Arctic spends the winter here. The place is a natural paradise where some species could survive. The industrial development in the world is the reason for living organisms to die. So, the Danube Delta rescues them. The fact that it is a reserve, makes is more important. It’s unique because it saves the variety of the biosphere. If there is a biodiversity, there is life. So, the Danube Delta is quite important for the future of the world.
Hristian: The Danube Delta means biodiversity- over 5000 species of flora and fauna, 319 species of birds are of European importance and 12 are globally threatened.
The Delta supports a great cultural diversity. with around 20 ethnical groups. The isolation of the Delta has encouraged the growth and maintainance of local cultures and traditions among the various villages. Different lifestyles based on the use of fish, wild foul and reeds, have developed fishing since ancient times. Fishing has been the main occupation of the inhabitants of the Danube Delta.
However, economic constrains and lacks of investments threaten the survival of the unique relationship between people and nature.
Dobromira: The Danube Delta is a place with very specific conditions and exactly this makes it unique. For some species it is the only place where they can survive.
Nowhere in the world there is the same combination of dead nature and wildlife. Nowhere could be seen exactly the same relationship between flora and fauna. These facts make the Danube Delta so important. It gives the species a different way to develop and survive and if it disappears it will be a great problem. The Delta gives its gifts to the biodiversity and makes it more various and rich.
Our Summer school
Ilko: Semep Summer Local school “Danube Delta – 2003 “ was great. We met new people from another culture, made a lot of new friends, see a different country. The organization was really great. Everything was free. There was only one bad thing- Why the summer school was too short? Just 4 days. It must be more than a week.
I think those were one of the best 4 days in my life.
Kamen: Tulcea is a very nice town and I had a great time here. I made new friends and I saw what the Romanian traditions and food are. The Romanian lifestyle is very different in comparison with ours. but I like it. The trips were very exciting and interesting. The organisation was very good.
I am very happy that I had the chance to visit Romania and I want to thank the people who gave me this opportunity
Konstantin: We had wonderful time together.
I met a lot of new friends there and I want to go to Tulcea again. Now I know that Romanians are lovely people and I was surprised by their hospitality and culture. I have learnt new thins about the Danube Delta and be happy to visit historical places. It was really nice to work in a team in the name of friendship and preservation of nature.
Marieta Kasabova- SEMEP Coordinator
