Coast to coast across the mountains

Across the mountains to the East Coast

From Hat Bang Ben, just South of Ranong, we left the West coast and aimed for Chumpon, on the other side of the peninsula. Although it is only about 50km from coast to coast (this is where it is the thinnest), we knew it was going to be a tough day and the road looked pretty hilly.

Allthough the first Thai religion is Budhism, the South is also very Muslim. There are only a few small buddhist temples along the road, and the further South the more Muslim villages.

Tropical wildlife ...

So what will scare you most? A one ton elephant or an 8 inch spider?
