Music and Theater
Whether listening to it, or singing it, I enjoy
all types of music. Professionally singing in a local band since 1992, I
have recently expanded my performances to include solo gigs as
well. I listen to and sing in my shows a very wide range of music
styles and artists. Rock, Country, Motown, Alternative,
R&B, Blues ....I love em all, and singing most in my gigs.(
except rap - this white-girl really stinks at it - just can't
seem to get the rhythmic phrasing, so only rap I do are presents
).
I've written several poems and short stories over the years, and over
the last few years have also written several original songs ( lyrics
& music ). Some I perform at gigs, and have enjoyed favorable
audience response. Because I am continually encourage by
"local" fans and followers to broaden and pursue the marketing
of both my vocal and song writing talents, I am now aggressively
involved in learning how to do just that.
While it is too soon to know if I will succeed, through Yahoo and other
music related web sites, I am meeting some extremely talented and
interesting people who share my interests and music dreams, and many are
proving helpful in teaching me some of the ropes to getting
started. As if that weren't reward enough, I am also making some
wonderful new friends from all over the country.
You can get a listing of my current gigs by clicking HERE,
or through http://www.hitched.com,
which is a wonderful site for bands to post their gig schedules and
a bio about themselves for free ( my favorite price ).To find me,
just type in Davenport IA, SpellBound, or my Karen
S. Michael ( for solo gigs ) and the whole schedule will pop up. And
if you are even remotely close, I hope you'll stop in and catch a show.
I have performed in a few plays in our community theater, and found
unexpected pleasure in acting. I Would love to do more, but
unfortunately, my love of music is greater and I don't have time to
participate in both since I have singing gigs almost every
weekend. I still enjoy attending local plays even though I'm not a
participant nowadays.
