Indian Spring Citizens Association
CALENDAR AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

DROP and SWAP

JUNE 3RD
What better way to make space and money than to have a yard sale. We are organizing a community yard sale for Saturday, June 3rd from 8 am to noon and would love as many neighbors to join us as possible. Drop & Swap! As an added bonus, from noon to 3 pm the rec center will be available to exchange your left-over yard sale items. A dumpster will be available where you can discard items unfit for sale or donation. Eat! At the same time as the Drop & Swap ISCA will hold a picnic for residents.

We need to get an idea of participation levels for the yard sale in order to place an ad in the Gazette and develop a map of participation homes to be distributed the day of the sale so please contact us so your home will be included. Volunteers are needed to help with promotion, set up and break down of tables and chairs at the rec center, food prep and service, and monitoring items tossed into the dumpster. June may seem far away but you might like to join your neighbors and clean out that attic please call Jill Ortman-Fouse at (301) 587-8257. Happy cleaning!

Bragging Rights

Time to do some bragging!! 'Tis the season for graduation, weddings, births and a whole host of other events significant to ISCA residents young and old. We want to include the good news that's happening to neighborhood families in every ISCA newsletter. But, we can't do so unless you tell us what it is! Anything goes - awards, scholarships, graduations, college acceptances, new babies, big promotions. If you've just moved into Indian Spring, we'd love to include some information about you in our next newsletter. Please e-mail your news to Mary Anne Hess [email protected] or call 301-585-5351.

Please Pick Up After Your Dog

Indian Spring is a dog lover's paradise. There are shady trees, open fields, wooded areas and plenty of fire hydrants - all things that make Fido a happy canine camper. Most areas are kept clean and free of doggie undesirabes, meaning waste products, however, there are some areas, such as the field by the YMCA, that still leave a lot to be desired. Some owners, YES, I MEAN YOU, are not picking up after your dogs. Let's not give dogs a bad rap for their owners' mistakes. Keep Indian Spring clean and beautiful. Please pick up after your dog! (The plastic bag your newspaper comes in can be recycled for just that - just grab and pull inside out.)

Indian Spring Baby-sitting Co-Op

Among the many benefits that our neighborhood has to offer is a well established Baby-sitting Co-Op with over 25 members. The general idea is to provide an equal and fair exchange of Baby-sitting services on the basis of points rather than dollars. It has been in our neighborhood for over 20 years and is maintained by the common efforts of many families. For further information please contact Jennifer Holland at 301-588-5109.

ISCA Newsletter Distributors Needed

Have you been receiving your monthly ISCA newsletter (if you've paid your annual dues, that is)? If not it could be that there is no volunteer newsletter distributor for your street. If you would like to volunteer to help with the newsletter's production or distribution or if you would like to know how to get your copy of the newsletter, call Sophia Wong at (301) 588-6675. A big thanks to all the Route Captains and distributors who have been doing a great job on their assigned routes. General meeting attendance is up 50% since the newsletter started reaching more people.

Thanks to ISCA Volunteers!

Noticed an improvement? Thank Mary Ann Hess, Richard Jaeggi, and Penny Ganzel for taking care of the Indian Spring flower tubs at the neighborhood entry points of Flower and Franklin, University and Indian Spring, and Colesville and Hastings. Thanks to David Ward for continuing to level out and seed the ditch caused by trucks rolling over the median at Hastings and Colesville. As these spots are gateways to our community, all residents are encouraged to lend a hand by pulling weeds and giving the flowers and plants a drink of water to keep them healthy and welcoming. If interested in adopting the maintenance of one of the locations, contact Heather Powers Sauter at (301) 565-4013 or [email protected].
