Like other martial arts karate follows its own code of conduct

The development of combat skills must not be the sole goal. In fact, the karateka should only use his knowledge when obliged to defend himself.

The karateka should never neglect hard exercise and the strong discipline of both his mind and body should be used for his evolution as an individual. “Perfection is a non-climbable mountain that should be climbed everyday.”

The general acceptance of these statements has earned Karate the fame of being “soft” by comparison with more televised professional martial arts. Nevertheless, despite whatever is said, a combative sport that is taught with pedagogical concern is always a plus for those who learn it (as for the “soft”, here are a few video clips that might change the opinion of some…).
