My Stud
My stud is small and select as I am only allowed a limited amount of rabbits. Below is my foundation breeding pair, Kanichen Casper & Kanichen Amber.

Left is my foundation buck, Kanichen Casper. He was bred by Val Bidwell (Larchwood Stud). Unfortunately he was not the most active of bucks and I could only get him to sire one litter. However his daughter, Madame Tufty of Kanichen, provided me with a firm basis for my stud.

Left is my foundation doe, Kanichen Amber who was kindly given to me by Richard and Rob Keel. Unfortunately Amber died of a calcium defiency when her litter were 4 weeks old, luckily all of the young survived.
As you now know, I exhibit as Kanichen Stud, allow me to tell you the reasoning behind my stud name. The word kaninchen is 'rabbit' in German. As I show German Lops it seemed to make sense as a stud name. However, you will notice I have spelt it wrong. The reason is because although it is spelt 'kaninchen' it is pronounced 'kanichen'; I felt that this stud name was going to be enough of a nightmare for the secretaries -without me spelling and pronouncing it differently!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that have helped me get started in rabbits: Val Bidwell: for supplying me with my first German Lop, Casper. Although Casper sadly died in 2000 his memory lives on in my line. Rob & Richard Keel (Wing Stud): for supplying me with several 'does', we got there in the end! Merv Dodd & Linda Howard: for helping me get aquainted with all the breeders and offering me all sorts of advice. They also took me to Holland! Diny Vrolijks: Diny let me stay with her in Holland, taught me about her stock and has given me a truly beautiful buck. Last but not least: Paula and Mum: these two have between them carted me all over the country to shows and to collect stock. If it weren't for them then I may well have given up when things got tough, thanks alot!
