Science Journals
Our study of living creatures made us feel like scientists. When we had the opportunity to see different creatures up close, we recorded our observations like scientists, too. We practiced using descriptive words and tried to be as accurate as possible in our descriptions.
These journals were a place for us to quickly record what we saw and thought. We did not spend time editing our writing for spelling and grammar. Instead, we thought of these journals as our "scratch pads." Any student that used ideas from their journal as inspiration for an essay or story edited their work at that time.
