Chapter 29
Today was the dreadful day, her father's funeral. The last night, she stayed awake until 3 am thinking about everything. She wished for the day to go by fast so she could move on without the eye of her family on Justin and herself. She was supposed to be happy and excited about getting married to the man she loves who never gave up on her. This funeral was going to be a test of her strength and love for her cold family. She was glad she at least had Justin there to support her and be the man she knew he always was. She was very grateful for him pushing back all his plans just to be with her and help through her pain.

"Baby, are you ready?," Justin asked, re-fixing his black tie for the fourth time in the mirror. Amelia appeared from the bathroom, dressed in a black dress suit, stockings, shoes, and a simple purse. Her brown hair was pinned in a French bun and she wore light make-up. Justin attention was directed upon her when she came in full view of the mirror and he gave her a slight smile, but it fell when he saw her face.

"What's wrong? Are you ok?," he asked concerned, placing both his hands on the side of her face. She raised her hands to his hands and gently rubbed her hands against his.

"Nothing, I think its something. I'm fine in a yes and a no," she stated,"I'm ok really. Lets go." Pulling away from Justin, she walked out the room. Running his hands over his hands, he let out an frustrated groan.
Good, she can be so stubborn. This is going to be a long day for me.

Just like Amelia had predicted, some of her family ignored her the whole time and it turned into being lash at Amelia for the pain she caused her father and the family. Once they saw Amelia enter in the church with Justin, everything went silent and cold, harsh, and angry glares all pointed to them both. During the funeral, it stayed peaceful for the sake of her father, but once the funeral was over, it was another story. A few younger cousins of Amelia met up with in the ladies bathroom at her mother's home, while Justin had to fend for himself outside.

"What the hell are you doing here? You're not family! Family doesn't turn on each other for a man!," screamed Latisha. Walking up to Amelia with Shana and Taliba backing her up. Amelia was caught off guard by this, but quickly bounced back.

"Excuse me? I am family. I am his daughter and last daughter. I have a right just as the rest of you'll do. If you want to talk about turning on each other then what about every single one of ya'll doing the same to me! You're a bunch of hypocrites! I didn't leave my family for Justin. They left me! I would suggest you get your facts straight before you go about yelling at someone. You guys and some of the rest are so ignorant, I don't even know what to say to you because you won't get it anyway," she fired back. Rolling her eyes, Latisha had one more thing.

Latisha went to swing at Amelia, but she caught her hand before it contacted with her face. A stern look surfaced on Amelia's face. "Don't you ever try that ever again or you will get hurt. I know Aunt Sandra taught you better than that." Turning to the other two," I have nothing to say to you two of and you Tisha. You guys have really disappointed me." She ended, leaving the bathroom. Walking through everyone, she was on a mission to find Justin and get away from everyone. Finding Justin with her mother on the other side having a conversations he approached.

"Honey, I want to go now. I've had enough of this bull. Mom, it was nice of you to invite Justin and I to this home thing, but it just isn't working," she states, putting her jacket on. Not waiting for an reply or for Justin to exit with her, she took off with the keys to the car.

"Something must have happened. That's the only way she would take off like that," Justin explains.

"I know. I already knew something was going to happen, but a lot quicker. I was shocked when you guys were still here," she slightly laughed. He gave a polite and genuine smile from her comment. Putting on a serous look, she took a box from behind her and placed it in Justin's hands.

"Give this to her for me. It's a gift from me to the both of you on your engagement. I see that you make my daughter very happy and I'm glad she found you. Take real good care of her," Mrs. Jacobs expressed, giving Justin a warm hug, which he gladly accepted and appreciated.

"I will and hopefully you and Amelia can have some sort of an relationship besides Jisela. Bye," he said. When he entered the car, Amelia quickly took notice to the nicely wrapped gift in his hands.

"What is that?," she curiously asked, reaching for the box, but her hands were pushed away by Justin.

"Oh, no you don't. You'll find out what this is later, after you tell me what happen. Right now, lets just get home."

Turning away from him, she took one last look at the house she hoped to never see again as they departed.
