| Chapter 27 |
| As she told her mother, she went to see her dad the next morning. Luckily, her family wasn't there at the time so she had some time to herself with him. He was shocked to see her, but didn't make it every easy to have a conversation without him having a sneer comment about Justin even in his severe state. Through all of it, she tried to be nice and let him know about the grandchild he has and even showed pictures; a silent tear came down his cheek. He didn't apologize about anything nor did he try to settle any bad blood between one another, but she felt at ease with what her father gave knowing that he had too much pride and didn't want to let go of it. After her little visit, she decided that she needed to approach her family about things once and for all. Waiting until the evening, she arrived and saw their car was still there. Knocking on the door, she was met by her sister again to her dismay. Tanisha didn't bother to say something to her; instead she opened the door wider to let Amelia in. Walking into the living room where she heard the voice of her mother and Mya, she made herself present, Tanisha right behind her. "Hi mama. Mya. I really need to have a talk with everyone," she said. Mya hadn't said a word or looked at her and it surprised the hell out of her when she entered. "Sure, Amelia. Have a seat. What did you want to talk about?," Mrs. Jacobs asked. "Everything. The whole drama that went down between the family 3 years ago. I came down to settle things with ya'll and then I find out about dad. This isn't the type of circumstances I would like to resolve things, but it has to be done. I love dad just as much as everyone even though, I was put through hell with him. I went to see him this morning and we settled things in a way, dad's way. I want things to stop because I can't keep carrying all this baggage with me into my marriage with Justin. I just can't! I can accept an apology, but it won't make the pain disappear. I-I just want to resolve things between us somehow. Even if we're not a close family or friend anymore, I would like to know that I still have you guys and that I can trust you not to put Justin, my child, and I in a situation like before because I won't take it," she took a deep sigh." I would really like to know one thing before ya'll get to say what you have to say. Mya, did you tell the press anything about my return? You guys were the only one who could tell that story." Since the question was directed towards Mya, she answered. "I told about you and Justin possibly getting back together, but never about your child or the engagement. I'm not going to lie and say that, I wasn't planning on making life hell for you, but I somewhat got a wake up call from Dan. He knows about you, but he really doesn't care what you anymore so you can rule him as well as me out for anything else that happens. Just so you know, none of this is making me less angry about everything." "Anyone has anything to add or say to me? It's now or forever hold you peace," Amelia added, looking at her mother and Tanisha. "I really don't have anything to say. I don't feel the need to apologize about anything. Things happen for a reason and I see that you're a lot bolder and not so naive about things like you used to be. I may be a bitch to you about everything including Justin, but that just the way it is. There's no reason for me to touch on him because you know how I feel about interracial relationships, but you seem happy to be with him and you do have a child so... whatever floats your boat," Tanisha said, lost for words. Mrs. Jacobs decided to speak up. "I'm sorry for everything. I guess I never really knew the extent of the hurt we put you through until you disappeared from Florida. I knew we were the ones who drove you to do so. We weren't there to support you and say everything would be ok, we did exactly what the press was doing to you. I know that I've lost a daughter and may never get her back because of my actions, I can except that. I just want you to know that, I love and always have," she cried silently, wiping tears that spilled from her brown eyes. Feeling as if she was about to cry, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath to regain composure. "I love you too ma and always will. I have to move on from you'll. I don't feel like I'm apart of the family anymore. The day you disowned me was the day when I felt that way more then ever. Justin's family and friends are my family and I love them just like ya'll. They were my family when I didn't have the support that was needed. I accept your apologizes," digging through her bag she pulled out some pictures. "We may not have a close relationship, but I would like for my child to know you guys. You're a grandmother and Nisha is an aunt whether you like the man I'm with, she is your blood. Here are some pictures of her you can keep. My cell number is on the back. Maybe one day, we'll take a trip and you can spend some time with her." Handing the pictures to her mother, she felt enough was said and got up from her seat. "I guess this is it. Hopefully, you'll contact me. If you don't, then I'll be ok with it. Bye," she expressed, leaving the house she lived in for good. Sitting in Justin's car, she felt at ease with everything. Somehow, things seemed better to her even though their wasn't any screams or cursing at one another and not much was said except their feelings. She was just glad that she could finally move on and have a relationship with Justin, they only thing needed to rest was the press, but tragedy was about to strike. Back Home Part 2 |
