| The loud shrills of the bedroom phone sitting on the nightstand next to Justin awoke him from his peaceful dream. Letting it ring a few more times until it stopped he let a sigh release. As he was finally getting back his sleep, the phone began to ring again. Groaning, he flipped over on his stomach squinting to read the alarm clock. What?! Who would be calling my 6 in the damn morning?, thought while grabbing the cordless phone. Not expecting to hear a shooken up mother over the phone line. "Hello?," groggily he said. "Justin, I can't believe this. It wasn't that long ago.....Jisela....what if," rambled Lynn. Pulling himself up from the bed, he tried to calm his mother down. "Mom, calm down. I don't understand what you're trying to tell me," he questioned. Slience had taken over the phone line, besides Justin occasional heavy breathing over the anticipation. "Amelia was in a horrible car accident yesterday. Her friends called me this morning. She's in critical condition," cried Lynn. The phone immediatley dropped from his hands. He couldn't believe it. It wasn't long ago he had seen her and now she was in a hospital. He was so caught up in a daze to hear the crys of his name from his mother. He looked to the other side of the bed, where Jiesela's slepping body layed and thought of the anguish she might feel if Amelia never returned. Finally the voice of Lynn became known to him and his picked the phone up with trembling fingers. "Mama, I'm still here," he spoke softly. "Thank God. I'm just as shocked and worried as you are. I've already booked ourselves with a flight to Texas, so pack some bags for you and Jisela and I'll meet you at the house in a hour," arranged Lynn. Shaking his head as a form of letting her know he was agreeing, he stop and realized his mother couldn't see a thing and his voice gave in. "Yeah, an hour. See you ma," he said in barely there voice. Click the off button, he didn't have the strength to hang it up. Laying down on his back, he closed his eyes tightly so tears wouldn'y spill from them. His body was numb and he felt like he was suffacting. Any person who looked at his relationship with Amelia on the outside wouldn't understand why he was having a reaction like this. Amelia may have left and hurt him badly, but deep down, he would always love her. She was the mother of his child. She gave him a special gift that he would always treasure. He couldn't be a cold-hearted asshole and not give a damn about her. Taking another look at Jisela sleeping body, he softly caressed the side of her faced and gathered up enough strength to get himself and her ready for their long flight. Back Home Chapter 12 |
