After several years of people meeting at Elliot's house, the faithful Methodists were finally ready to have their own chapel in order to worship God. On November 24th, 1860, George Dubbs, Philip Cooper, Daniel "Carey", Corbin and Sophia Prophater, and Georg Winkle, signed the deed to get a land permit to build their church, the Methodist Episcopal Church, McGuire Chapel. For my research on this cemetery and its past chapel, I took a trip to the Beaver County Courthouse and went to the Office of the Recorder of Deeds, where people are allowed to open books of old deeds. With a parcel number, I discovered the deed in Deed Book #67, pages 462-463. Many of the books in the office were very old; this book was no exception! The pages were yellow, and the script was in a hard-to-read, tiny, fancy cursive. 9
