A Short History Of Kampar Jaya Hash House Harriers

Our birth was painful, nothing short of traumatic as we broke away from Kampar Hash when a call to have an all-men run was turned down.  A fist fight was barely averted, as "the gang of  12"decided to go it alone and forge the spirit of "batangness" and to strengthen the bond of "batanghood"! In those early and trying days we received tremendous support from Ipoh 3H and PJ Animals , and our close ties were cemented with a Triangular, which still continues unabated till today.

So it was in July 1981 that we came to join the Hash fraternity, and now 23 years later, we can stand tall, having not forsakenthe basic tenets of hashing, having not given in to commercialism and having a day strictly for the boys. A day when we can romp and run, frolic and farth, piss or puke with gay abandon, a day for the idiot in all of us.

On our inaugural run at Chong Sam Bangalow, we invited a few blokes from Ipoh to join in the festivities. Our 2nd run along the Tronoh Mines Road had only 14 runners, and today our pack averages about 47 pricks ( come to think of it, things are not much different now ! ) The only thing different, is that we now have more silver in our hair, gold in our teeth and have not lead leaf in our pencils !

Our small size has however not deterred us from attempting great things ( and now to  indulge in some self-glorification, if not now, when ? ) We have had Invitation Runs ,Triangular Runs and carried out various social project. Our Invitation Runs stricly follow the 'No Principle ' i.e.no payment exacted, no registration needed, no non-participation levy imposed and no sponsorship solicited. Not many chapters can match this.

It has been 26 wonderful years thur far. We look forward to many more years to come. On ! On !
