IMBOLC - is celebrated on February 1, or February 2...It is the Festival of the beginning of Spring and represents the renewed life of the Earth and the growing strength of the Sun. Imbolc is a festival of Light. Imbolg literally means �in the belly� and at this time the first sheep are in lamb. The Goddess changes her robes of Crone for those of the Maiden. Imbolc is also called Candlemas, Disting-tid, Feast of Brigid, Festival of Light, Feast of the Virgin, Festival of Milk, Anagantios, Feast Day of St. Blaize, St. Bridget's Day, Candlelaria.Oimelc (pro; �EE-mell�), which is Gaelic and means �Lactation of Ewes.�, La Fheile Bride, �the feast of Bride� (pronounced �Law EYE-lah VREE-juh�), honoring the Goddess Brighid, and more commonly called Ground Hogs� Day.
Imbolc is a Lunar or Grand Sabbat, and is sacred to the Maiden Goddess.

Colors - White, Yellow, Pink and Light Green

Symbols  - Candles, The Bride, Burrowing Animals, Grain Dolly, and Sun Wheels.

Herbs and Plants
- Evergreen, Willow, Rosemary, Clover, and Dill

Stones -Turquoise, Amethyst

Foods - all dairy and all foods symbolic of the sun. Lamb, sparkling white wine, lemonade or mineral water

Deities - God and Goddess as Children, All Virgin Goddesses, all Flame Goddesses

Traditions - at sunset or just after go through and light every lamp in the house- if only for a few moments. Or, light candles in each room in honor of the Sun's rebirth.
